Maybe that's not quite right. There's a lot of things you do remember; your life before now, the people you met (and lost) in heaven, but it's a bit... muddled. You do not remember the details of being in heaven. Or dying (at least outside of heaven if you are Neverah). You also don't really think that's weird? You remember being out exploring and that you need to go back home, except home and heaven are a bit synonymous right now.
Something you definitely remember, though, is that you are not where you are supposed to be. This is some place new. A large, gloomy and covered up city, with tall buildings in tight spaces and machines occupying the place people should. There's not a single sign of nature left anywhere here. The robots go about their life the way you'd expect people would.
Also, when you look down at yourself, you definitely remember not being a robot. Neither was your companion, who you recognize instantly despite this change. It helps that you're both wearing whatever outfit you were before you got here. It wouldn't do to be the only naked robots in this place, probably.
Luckily when reacting to all of this, both of you can still emote. ]
Maomao is very curious. While there is a surprise emote showing up on her screen, she is going to take a step or two forward to investigate when she realizes that her footsteps do not sound normal. She looks down at herself. ]
What's this? [ Just going to be checking herself out. ] Ah. I still don't have anything... [ She says as she looks at her chest. If you're going to change her body at least make it interesting. ]
There's nothing much happening while they react because we are in set up moments, but currently they can infer that they are somewhere in the slums of this city. The machines are wearing shittier clothes, there's broken down, barricaded windows in the buildings and trash on the ground, some robots missing limbs or in disrepair loitering around, etc. There is a neon-lit sign above a door leading to a basement that lets them know they are near a bar, though they can also attempt to walk out of the slums if they wish.
Maybe that's not quite right. There's a lot of things you do remember; your life before now, the people you met (and lost) in heaven, but it's a bit... muddled. You remember being out exploring and that you need to go back home, except home and heaven are a bit synonymous right now.
Something you definitely remember, though, is that you are not where you are supposed to be. This is some place new. You're in a wide, open valley, surrounded by a forest. The village you're in is homey, with small wooden cabins serving as most of the buildings. There are animals walking about the way people would, living their lives as usual.
Also, when you look down at yourself, you definitely remember not being a furry. Neither was your companion, who you recognize instantly despite this change. It helps that you're both wearing whatever outfit you were before you got here. It wouldn't do to be the only naked animals in this place, probably.
Nature is all around you and also you are nature. This is probably fine. ]
[CATHA JUST ISN'T THE SAME AS HAMHA. Lucas is a dog because of course he is, just looking down at himself and then looking over at Uruha who is now a cat and then back down at himself again, and then out toward the buildings where a bunch of other furries are wandering around.]
The animals milling around are looking curiously and maybe a little warily in their direction as they talk, but no one approaches them. The closest building seems to be a tavern going by the sign announcing as much, though they're free to explore further into the village if they wish. To leave entirely, they'd have to go through the forest, and that one might be a little more problematic. ]
[ The climb up the mountain starts off rather steep.
Lucas, Uruha and their suspiciously named possibly talking bunny head up. The lion wasn't lying to Uruha; immediately upon walking up the air is already colder, and it will only get colder as they go. The scenery remains picturesque, however, and both of these boys are healthy enough a little climb never killed them. There's no stairs, just a forest-y mountain path that winds up, so get those steps in! There's only one path with no signs. Only climbing.
Eventually, though, they'll come across a small clearing where the path is a little larger, and damn. That's another deer carcass in the way. How many of these can one mountain have?
Oh, well, this one doesn't have a split path, so they can probably ignore it and. Hm. Wait was that deer wearing pants? And ohh my god what the fuck is that THING that just crawled up and is eating the carcass????
[Yes good what a nice lovely brisk walk up the cold mountain just hiking away, a little fresh air and exercise is good for the soul and WHAT THE HELL IS THIS. He holds his small suspiciously named rabbit child and turns a bit away from the scene so they cannot see it so directly.]
What in Hades...
[IS IT BLOCKING THEIR WAY UP. GET OUT OF THE PATH, DAMN, AT LEAST EAT DINNER SOMEWHERE ELSE.]
[ the rabbit is hiding its face in horror. i think it's great that they didn't even get a bag so lucas is like. forced to carry this child with him at all times in his arms, and uruha is the only one who can safely grab a weapon.
Anyway, 1) it is blocking their way 2) it replies to hello by lifting itself on its four skinny legs, showing off that the entire bottom half of its body is the mouth. in case you didn't get that from the linked picture. just such a sexy creature.
it lets out an odd kind of noise that can't be replicated by humans or animals. it rings in their head like static and fills them with a sense of paranoia and anxiety. roll a d20 for how much this affects their mental state! :) ]
That's the first thing they notice. The only lights in the tower are red emergency lights that flash on and off from time to time, lighting the place barely enough for the girls to get a sense of where things are.
The first floor is vast and seemingly empty; they can spot where the door to the outside should be from here. On this side, they can tell that there's actually multiple doors with a lot of different locks to stop anyone from coming in. There's an elevator shaft in the middle of the floor. The usual buttons are there next to its closed doors.
At the back there is a staircase going up to the left, and an identical staircase going up to the right.
The ventilation seems to be on here. You can hear the sound of the air going through the building. You can also hear radio static from the speakers. ]
[dang it's dark in here........ makes someone wish they had a convenient portable object that produced light............. but anyways]
I don't know.
[she also does not know what an elevator is i don't think so they can just take the stairs and probably get maimed on them it's definitely fine!!!
but as she walks towards the staircase (unless maomao saves us and knows what an elevator is) she'll run a hand carefully along the wall to see if she can feel a switch.]
[ the walkie talkies don't light up, but at least they make an echo-y radio static sound between each other when the button is pressed? ooo? maybe they can learn? maybe not. maybe all these items are going to be very funny for a long time.
there are unfortunately no switches on the wall.
There is, however, some weird...almost flesh-like texture to the wall. When the lights flash, she can see an odd kind of growth that seems to be going up, like a growing skin on the wall.
If you're not taking the elevator, let me know if you are taking the right or left staircase or if you are separating! ]
[ Neverah and Maomao find the nearest vent exit and climb down. The rats don't seem to have followed, but that doesn't mean much in an infestation.
They find themselves in a wide, empty room once more. Maybe it's their previous experience in a room like this, but if they had flesh, it would raise the goosebumps on theirs. There's a soft, blue light imitating the night sky. Instead of steps to continue their journey upward, it looks like there's an exit at a slope. Wheelchair accessible part of the building, maybe?
There's a massive door opposite their vent entrance. It's open and seems to lead down some stairs. If they strain, it almost looks like there's a silhouette in the darkness. In fact, it's more than a silhouette.
There's an injured robot stepping through. It's holding what looks like a small drone. It looks like a malfunctioning robot to them right now. Identical to JQ and probably just as dangerous.
They do not recognize Uruha.
Uruha steps outside. The mountain road is open, the sloped path gentle once more. The night is cold and the rabbit in his arms shivers.
At the bottom of a tree, further away from the path, Uruha can spot what looks like two injured animals--? No. No, to his eyes they seem like a pair of flesh monsters who have already devoured two animals and are wearing their skins. They are in the way.
He does not recognize Neverah and Maomao.
Lucas is also here experiencing the same thing as Uruha but honestly i wrote all of this before he came back so like anyway you are both meeting again!
you are both seeing each other as monsters
ALSO YVES/KOHARU'S LEGS JUST LOOKS LIKE VARIOUS ROBOT PARTS TO THE GIRLS LOOK IT'S 4AM ]
[WELL UH BOTH URUHA AND LUCAS ARE HOLDING THINGS so before uruha can do anything he has to shift this rabbit to one arm so he can take out his knife which also fucking hurts!!]
Careful.
[to lucas who has presumably come out, because the last flesh monster was bad!!]
[DON'T TELL HIM TO BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ARE THE ONE WITH SO MUCH PSYCHE DAMAGE AND PHYSICAL INJURY YOU STUPID URUHA. He's also taking his knife out again, though he'll at least shift to carry Yves on his back to free his arms up a tiny bit more and also not jostle him as badly and step closer to Uruha.]
Two of them this time...?
[And no bee wives to conveniently murder either... The hides they're wearing are grotesque, THIS IS JUST BRITT'S SKIN MONSTER AGAIN, but Lucas as always is not going to attack if he doesn't feel he has to. There's still the urgency to get to Nadia, though, so he's scanning the area to see if there's any room for them to dodge around the nasty flesh monsters.]
[ At the end of the lift, at the top of the mountain, at the last floor of an impossibly high building, the four of them rejoin.
At the top of the mountain, there is a shrine. There is a young girl kneeling there, a little blond dog, and she knees, unmoving, on the ground of the shrine.
At the top of the mountain, there is a man next to her, who is an animal jan will fucking decide but who the rest of them won't recognize. He holds a sword and he stands vigil for the girl.
At the top of the mountain, standing further away from them, are two other animal people, looking at something Lucas and Uruha cannot see.
At the top of the tower, there is a door promising freedom, and a robot who seems to bear a strong resemblance to Neverah. She turns when she hears the elevator door open and she stares their way with a blank screen.
At the top of the tower, there is Claude? Is that fucking Claude? Why the fuck is Claude here. He's holding the machine from a million tags ago. Remember that plot line? Holy shit. Anyway. He's putting it near the door.
At the top of the tower, there are two more robots, a small one kneeling on the ground praying to nothing as a bigger one stands vigil.
They can see all four of them for once, though the scenery is different for all of them.
And then, the scenery is not different, as the ground shifts and switches around them. The sky vanishes from the mountain, locking them into a tight room; the floor turns to flesh in the tower.
From nowhere, a flesh monster shows itself, larger than all the rest of them, monstrous in size. It could swallow all of them in one go. It is a doorway to freedom. It is a shrine that will give them health.
[forgets about her water bottle and literally everything else going on for a second when she sees that robot, taking a step that's more like a stagger towards her.
and then everything shifts and there's a bigger flesh monster so that's cool!!!! she altogether freezes because she has a flashlight as a weapon. what is she gonna do here. she tries to take a few more steps towards the familiar looking robot, holding her hand out towards them, pressing her other hand to her side to try and stem the flow of oil and sparking electricity.
it is probably not a good idea to be moving for multiple reasons but we are having a normal one.]
[ why is claude here? a part of her wants to go back on the elevator...
however he has that device to help with the radio signals. she starts to limp her way over there when everything changes. is the floor making gross flesh noises with every step? ]
[forgets to track the thread MY GOD. ANYWAY Lucas also temporarily forgets about his pizza stack as soon as he spots that little blond dog, but it's okay! He doesn't have time to be insane about it because he's immediately snapping to attention at this new enormous flesh monster that manifests before them as the whole space changes. He's like, briefly noting the suddenly appearing Claude and also the wolf that for some reason resembles Neverah, and his attention also snaps to them briefly, and he's using these small moments to just calculate damage and take in information because he's just in terminator mode now after having to haul ass out of the puzzle void with all of his crispy water bottles.
To Uruha, who is truly so fucking damaged:] I'm going to set you all down and go retrieve those two. Will you be alright?
[As much as he'd like to carry his water bottles endlessly, he also knows he will need his arms to either do battle with this flesh creature or attempt to run past it to get their furries. This time he's more inclined to attack, though, especially since he is THE LEAST INJURED OF THIS GROUP. He doesn't even brandish his knife yet he's just going to bare fist it, though he'll gauge the creature's violence first.]

Are you two alright?
