It's useful. If they call us devils... it's out of fear.

Then- sure, sometimes we are. I've called myself one plenty of times.

So you're devils... sometimes?

I just wouldn't say all of us are!

So Sarkaz aren't devils.

It's just that some people are devils in general.

[ they're working so hard to understand. ]

Ugh, I'm really not the person for this. Where's Hoederer when you need him...

How did they put those stupid word problems. Every devil is a Sarkaz, but not all Sarkaz are devils?

That makes sense then. But it was a lot of extra detail when you could have just said "No."

Why are people afraid of you? Just because a lot of you are sick?

[sarkazm]

We've been at war with pretty much the rest of the world for I don't even know how long. I don't really care about dusty old conflicts like that-- but the situation now is that they see us as less than them.

Then if you were to earn your redemption, would you want to stay in Heaven? Or go back into a war you don't care about?

[sarkazm]

I do care.

[she has to correct that immediately.]

I care about ending it.

So it's only how it started that you don't care about.

[ they nod. that makes sense to them. wars are long; whole generations get born into conflicts they didn't start and won't see end. ]

Then you would go back?

I would. But before we go in a circle about this, I can still want to go back without wanting any of this redemption business!

Well, you can want it, of course. But it won't happen.

[ they shrug! ]

Sure, sure, I get it. I still think this god of yours needs to work on their selection process.

That would defeat the whole purpose.

Why would it?

[holyspirits]

If the goal is to prove that anyone can be redeemed and deserves a grace period to try... then selecting only the candidates you know will succeed negates any meaning drawn from the results.

That would just be how it's always worked until now.
