[ good morning everyone. it's another day, probably a monday? god, aren't mondays the worst? especially when you know you have a lot of other things to be doing right now besides arriving on campus for another day of school.
you're all dressed in your uniforms (slacks, a sweater vest with a raven emblem on it, a white shirt, a tie), though not all of you appear the same. marcoh's the most put together, most likely. it's equally likely siffrin's ditched the vest entirely and the tie's loose, while jiaoqiu's trying not to acknowledge the way his uniform his second-hand.
maybe it doesn't matter. what matters is that the four of you are together, and the four of you know one thing: today, after school, you will be continuing your search for Glendower. at the same time though, you can't quite shake the feeling of something about to go wrong. maybe it's best to go visit Cabeswater first, when you can.
but before that, maybe take some time to discuss? compare some notes, decide what you might want to do and where you want to go. you still have to get through a full day of classes, after all. ]
[ i guess if you decide to go somewhere else around campus, or just wander off on your own, you may do so here. plug in a scenario, i will give you a summary of what you're doing and finding. ]
[ you pile into marcoh's shitty, ugly orange camaro, and miraculously you do not die on the way back to your gay little warehouse. you stop for pizza first, and yves stares longingly while you all scarf down an after school snack. not long after, you arrive to the warehouse and climb up to the second floor, being greeted by the sight of...
... a mess? your bedroom doors are flung open, and marcoh's desk in the living room has been upturned. trash cans have been emptied, and bedding has been ransacked. your closets are open, etc. someone has been here, and they were looking for something.
but it's fine. you don't really need to think about this right now. you're able to change your clothes (let jiaoqiu borrow some things, maybe, let him be dry) and you're also able to grab a few gadgets. an emf reader, a compass, some helmets with flashlights, ropes, the sort of things you might need to explore a cavern. chainsaw, the raven, flutters in agitation before she soars to land on siffrin's shoulder, nuzzling at their chin.
you pile your way back into the car. you drive, knowing where the entrance to cabeswater is, and when you park the car in the middle of a field you follow the oyster-shelled walkway onward. you know where to look, following the tiny stream at the edge of the field, near a cluster of trees. it's hardly a stream, more like water soaking up the grass, but following it leads you right between two dogwood trees. walking ahead, you disappear into the grove and the temperature around you drops. but you aren't worried. occasionally you hear birdsong in the canopy and all around you tower massive oak and ash trees among slabs of cracked stone. there are ferns and moss growing everywhere, and golden light filters through to mingle with the scent of greenery and water. you hear water splashing, and the further you walk the trees begin to expand even higher and higher.
they whisper their greetings to you all.
where would you like to go? you can try to follow the source of water, or you can try to let siffrin lead you to where the cavern is, or you can try to converse with the trees? you can do none of these things and simply explore as well. ]
[ NIGHTMARE. THEIR GAY LITTLE WAREHOUSE. WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE HATE CRIME?
Well good thing nothing was stolen because that'd suck. Also very good to see that Chainsaw is unharmed... feeds her a little crumb in passing. Jiaoqiu has a choice of either spare Marcoh socks or spare Siffrin socks... and an outfit in general Marcoh would give him an allowance, his apparently poor blorbo.
He's grumbling as they gather their gadgets, making sure none of these are destroyed... also changing out into a post-school outfit, can't believe I almost forgot the fit. ]
I think shop will close soon. I will look into a new lock tomorrow.
the three of you (and chainsaw) find yourselves tumbling down toward a jagged-floor pit.
it's a very far fall, but you find yourself hitting the ground and it remains soft, like damp soil. (yes, you may roll for fall damage if you want.) as you take a closer look, you soon realize that the floor you thought you saw is a crystal clear, still lake, the water mirroring what looks like a stalactite-dotted ceiling. you can't see the depth of the water, but you can see a small pinprick of light from a tunnel opening all the way on the other side.
this lake is too wide, taking up nearly the entire space of the area. there's a thin strip of land for a shoreline, but it's too narrow and steep around the circumference of the lake to walk along it.
there's no other exit either.
the water is still, and yet it feels unnerving. it isn't the calm pools of the cabeswater above, but it feels almost dead. siffrin and jiaoqiu, you aren't able to feel any sort of magic energy from it. marcoh, you are not tall enough to simply wade across it. it's you and this lake until 8:59, fellas.
here you are again, alone in cabeswater. funny how that happens, huh? at least you have the company of those dead like you.
it's you and hundreds of skeletons, an army of magnificent creatures with something humming in their bones. you feel the valley beneath your feet making you a little stronger, and the bones around you continue to loom, as if waiting for something.
[ you all decide it's probably for the best to stay the night together at your warehouse, especially after what you've just experienced.
luckily, this time, when you enter the warehouse it does not look like it's been ransacked! but let me give you a little bit of your current layout as it stands.
siffrin and yves, you have your own rooms. sort of. siffrin has an actual bedroom, and yves has a smaller room that has a bed, but it's shared with a bunch of old manufacturing equipment.
marcoh, your bed is in the middle of the living room for some reason. two mattresses on top of a metal frame. no, you fucks don't have a couch. there's an old desk facing an east window, littered with notes and papers and books of all kind. in the middle of the room as well, you find a knee-high replica of the town you're currently in, made out of cereal boxes, containers, and paint. it's a long-running project of marcoh's.
for some ungodly reason, your fridge is in your bathroom. which also doubles as a laundry room? it's a fucking nightmare out here, your fridge is close to your toilet, there's rubber tubing dangling from a showerhead above a drain, your shower curtain is strung from the ceiling with fishing line... insanity.
anyway, you may all gather...share notes...and decompress. you may need it.
especially because all four of you feel varying degrees of unease, like something has gone horribly, horribly wrong. ]
[ at any time, you may use your cell phone to call 300 fox way and contact the psychic's daughter for any questions, clarity, discuss your findings with her, etc. ]
[ being a dreamer is a dangerous thing, not for the faint of heart or the faint of will. siffrin sleeps, dreaming to try and see inside cabeswater... but maybe they shouldn't have.
their body jolts, and as siffrin awakens there's a twitch as something long, gangly and unnaturally dark clings to them, fingers hooked into the flesh of their stomach to try and hold onto them. spindly wings sprout from its back, like molted feathers or razor blades, and as the nightmarish creature slithers to the floor it splits apart into three forms.
six eyes blink at you, hunched on the floor and dripping in lake water. they begin to move on shaky feet...
[ night falls. things got hectic in your gay little warehouse, and there is a sense of uneasiness among you. just unease, not mistrust, because even with everything that's happened and even with the things you've started to learn about each other you still trust one another. it's for that reason, maybe, all of you are still keeping secrets.
the window is still broken from the night before, but you get a clear view of the night sky. it's an inky black, the lack of stars a stark contrast from the usual, and the air appears to be still.

the flapping of wings comes on suddenly as hundreds of birds swoop in through the window, filling the room and circling around you all. they hover around marcoh specifically, and when they cry, the message is the same.
"Make way! Make way for the Raven King!"
the birds shriek, feathers ruffled and swirling through the room as several of them volley themselves out toward the car.
they seem insistent to be followed, but simultaneously dragged from you as if pulled by an unseen force. in some instances, you may hear other voices (koharu, anders, claude), voices loud and then warped, caught in the cacophony of quickly-beating wings.
you get the sense that there's something big just out of reach.
[ okay well yves is probably somewhere pathetically on the floor still, sword kicked far across to somewhere else that he can't easily reach even if he made a mad dash for it. he's exhausted but not in pain (lol), even with this bullet wound hanging out. though he does ask - ] Um, do we... have any zipties?
