the animals seem to recognize the dead kin among them, so they allow for pets. however, they were all primed to head forward, onward at the instruction of a far-off king. with the path clear, yves will feel a sudden pulse through the valley of bones, and all of them spring to live as the door widens.
on the other hand, he will not get so much time to lead them, considering they all begin to immediately move and charge straight through. the room rumbles, the sound of thousands of bones grinding and stuttering against each other as skeletons rush to flee the valley. yves is right in the middle, and as animals begin to filter through in groups, the doorway rattles and slowly grows smaller, bit by bit.
the animals continue to push him back further and further from the door, and some of them don't seem to care he's in the way at all. but this is the only chance to flee.
[ you are all SOOOOOO IMPATIENT. first he is going to SCOOP the little skeleton kitty off the ground because it is so small and he is NOT going to abandon his first friend! and then he's going to respond a little bit like the wildebeest stampede in the lion king, which is to say he's going to do his best to get the hell out of here. he'll navigate his way with all the bones as much as possible but also

YIPPEE. my rolls for this phase against you, specifically, are bad which means somehow ghost boy and kitty friend ride off into the sunset, making their way through the door with all of the animals! wahoo!
however, they also ride straight off a cliff, sliding somehow even further down a dark, slippery slope. less wahoo!

[ i'm sorry but for whatever reason, yves is going to choose to curl up specifically so that he protects the cat more than himself on instinct. he does this with small animals more than once in canon. virche is bad and yves is bad

[ well. he can keep kitty, actually, i was not anticipating he'd save the cat but he can have a friend. all of the other animals appear to have vanished into the dark, and if they're around yves can't really tell. it is pitch black inside, but if he squints he will notice a few things while he's looking.
for one thing, up at the very, very top of this slope on the other side he fell from there appears to be another cave opening. it's incredibly small though, maybe only big enough for one person to fit through.
for another, there's a dull red door right in front of him. and as he looks at it, he hears a voice speak in his head.

or maybe it's his own thoughts? the kitty, on the other hand, stares at the door and appears mildly spooked by its appearance. ]
[ he would've saved the horse too but that's hardest to carry in his arms...
yves looks down at the kitty and lets it decide what he's going to do. he doesn't full on walk to the dull red door, but he takes a step closer and watches the kitty's reaction. does it recoil away? or is it okay with heading over to it? ]
kitty continues to stare at the door, but does not appear sure if the door is good or bad. it stays close to yves, kneading into the ground as its hollowed-out eyes remain on the handle.

that's a good point. kitty continues creeping along the more yves approaches the door. now that he's here, he'll see the handle is black, somewhat oily and sleek. the wood of the door looks worn, as if it's been shut for a long, long time.
[ it is very, very high up and close to the ceiling. scaling it might be a bit of a problem, given the sides of the cave are slick. there are maybe some small handholds, but as of now there's no easy exit.

Anyway, just going to drop down and crawl through the opening, c'mon big guy. But mostly doing this so they can get to the other side and be there to help Marcoh and Jiaoqiu when they come through. Hopefully. We are young bones so no old bones to worry about. ]
