I don't think it's selfish to want a connection. [ they think about it ] But I've been pretty selfish about the people I want close to me, so maybe I shouldn't talk.

No, I've been pretty terrible at times. That's not what got me separated from people, though.

No one's lovable all of the time. You can love someone and still want to strangle them.

In the same way, you can think someone's being horrible but still love them with all your heart, right?

I didn't say I wasn't lovable at all. I've met plenty of actually unlovable people.

... well, I don't think you have to love everyone if you don't want to. Most people don't.

I try to. I haven't met everyone in the world, so I can't say for sure. But... I'd like to.

That's optimistic. [ they do not say it like it's a bad thing, but they definitely say it in a way that says they cannot relate ] Thinking the best of people means you fit in with the thought behind this pretty well, though.

Oh, of your redemption offer?

Yeah. Believing the best in people sort of goes hand-in-hand with that. [ they kick at the sand ] And I do believe in second chances. But some people I'll never forgive, either, so maybe it's a good thing I'm not the one running this place.

If you can't forgive someone, it just shows how deeply you care about something or someone else.

But... I guess so. I'd like to attempt redemption, if that's what my friends are doing.
