anyhow, since he's had the chance to practice a few times, zuriel gets the improved version of the first attempt he showed marcoh—i.e. honestly it's pretty decent. not perfect, because he is still years out of practice, but some instincts don't leave you, at least. and he doesn't forget any steps, the movements are graceful, etc.]

How many years' practice did you have before you stopped really doing this? You have very good spacial awareness, especially when it comes to the fan going one direction and your feet the other.

A decent amount of years. Like the sword, I started young.

Then I would say with a bit more practice it would be perfect, but I kind of like that it isn't. It feels more authentic to be a little less polished. Which I'm sure goes against the whole point, but... you're doing this because they asked, aren't you? They want to see your version of it.

Obviously, there's some relief in knowing I'm not gonna be judged if I'm not perfect. That's how most people feel. At the same time, I'm at my best when I know the other party'll be strict?

There's pros and cons to both.

[ no, see, this she actually gets a lot more immediately than most things. ] Knowing that you're going to be watched means you actually put forth all of the effort to do it properly versus going through the motions to get it over with for someone who won't mind if it's imperfect. But you want to be at your best for a lot of other things, even if it's not this necessarily.

It's incentive to actually be connected to the thing you're doing.
