You would think. But I think there are just as many people who would prefer the unpolished if it meant getting something more real and less... stifling. Something that matches a persons insides.

I can never tell if different is bad for you or not. Or uncomfortable, in any case.

Obviously, there's some relief in knowing I'm not gonna be judged if I'm not perfect. That's how most people feel. At the same time, I'm at my best when I know the other party'll be strict?

There's pros and cons to both.

Oh. [ no, see, this she actually gets a lot more immediately than most things. ] Knowing that you're going to be watched means you actually put forth all of the effort to do it properly versus going through the motions to get it over with for someone who won't mind if it's imperfect. But you want to be at your best for a lot of other things, even if it's not this necessarily.

It's incentive to actually be connected to the thing you're doing.

Yeah. And I'm more used to doing these kinds of things for a living or in important scenarios, anyway. I don't... do a lot of things as a hobby, exactly.

"This heaven stuff." [ funny. ] I used to work a lot. Different jobs to keep my busy and everything. [ also, she needed money. ] But I guess art sometimes. Reading sometimes. Helping my family with their readings sometimes. Searching for sleeping Welsh kings and following ley lines sometimes.

The boys were on the quest long before I met them. But everything sounded so unlike what I've seen before that I wanted to come with them.

It was Gansey's idea. He wanted to find Glendower for his own reasons, but whoever found him would also be granted a favor.

Glendower being the aforementioned sleeping Welsh king?

Yes. He'd been searching for years even before he moved to Henrietta to continue and brought the rest of us along.
