[it seems your offering was accepted. a glowing orb appears, ready to be taken. you can take a moment to regroup and discuss, or you can choose a door to unlock immediately.
[ Her blood falls, and Koharu shudders, wings fluttering as she does. But once the feeling comes and goes, she simply shoots W an expression of surprise before her head dips back down, cradling her hand close. ]
[ There isn't an immediate response; Koharu instead only looks W over, bites at her bottom lip while appearing conflicted, and then shrinks by some, turning away. ]
[hm. she listens, one hand set on her hip as she considers.]
... obviously, we're going to have to stay in this together, and if shit starts happening to you that you don't say anything about? I can't help you with that!
[her tail swishes idly.]
Just something for you to think about. We'd better get going.
[okay, so first of all, actually, the circle inset on the "treasure" door is now covered, so they couldn't put the orb in there even if they wanted to.
while you were in here solving this puzzle, did someone come through and open that door...? are you alone in here, or is there someone else?
either way, it looks like the "sacred path" is the only door available to you, so it's a good thing that's what you wanted.
you unlock the door. the inscription beside it says Her Most Sacred Path
inside, there is an inscription on the floor, on a circular disc in front of some decorative purple tiles, that says The Faith Leap Trial.
and then, just past the inscription, the floor seems to give out entirely. there's just pitch blackness as far as the eye can see. until at the very back of the room there's a lantern with that soft purple glow, just visible above an altar where a glowing orb sits. you're both standing safe on the ledge, but the darkness is ahead of you.
[you both rolled badly so you do not have the right for me to give you ~insight~ on how this trial works.
but wis'adel figured it out from context clues anyway, which is also valid. yes! she steps into the dark, onto the area where it looks like there's no floor, but there is an invisible floor underneath her feet.
[well, that will only work for a few more steps, and then abruptly she takes another step and there is no more invisible floor underneath her.
fortunately, she steps onto what seems like a warp pad - it glows purple, and she warps back to the ledge where they started the trial.
koharu is still out there, standing right in front of the spot where wis'adel just stepped forward and was warped, but she's still on the invisible floor for right now.]
[ Koharu freezes AGAIN the moment W straight up vanishes before her. ]
....
[ and. gently takes a few steps to the side, then inches forward, like. very carefully tapping her foot in front of her with each step to make sure there's still floor there. ]
[she's laughing brightly when she shows back up on the ledge, making her way right back up to koharu. sup.]
Hey, watch your step!
[calling that ahead, still sounding satisfied with herself. man! the warp was the best PART of all this. and when w rejoins her:]
Soooo I wouldn't do that if I were you. Don't think we're gonna get another catch.
[she's doing the same thing, though she's just like, sweeping her tail forward to feel for something solid. it's long enough for this, she just doesn't let it drag usually.]
[yeah. koharu can do that. she shuffles a bit to the left, and the floor does continue on the left, past the warp pad. if she keeps going, testing her feet, eventually she hits a spot where the floor doesn't exist again. and while it would seem like you could be careful and tap your feet, in reality, even a very careful step off a narrow platform into nothingness catches her off balance and puts her at risk of falling.
wis'adel, if she's following after her, can just follow her steps or use the tail method.]
[she's following, yeah, she's not gonna crowd the edge...
but at least that means she's in position to reach out and try to grab koharu by the back of the shirt or whatever else she's wearing. by a wing if she really has to.]
[fine fine okay well koharu rolled a 20 so i guess she lives and doesn't fall into the abyss or whatever 🫤
i guess you guys both make it to the end of the path using this super careful method and you don't die 🫤
i hope you both at least kick yourself later on the way back when you notice that the tile design on the floor i mentioned was actually a map this whole time 🫤

but you do only have one key, so choose wisely.]

Why did—what just... happened?
no subject
[she blinks at her, looking her over.]
... explain whatever happened, first.
[if she's got an answer then she sure doesn't know it based off "something occurred".]

It's nothing—I think the pain just got to me.
[ From a mere cut, but details. ]

[ Well... time to pick up this orb. After a deep exhale to regain her bearings, Koharu lifts it up, turning to go back whence they came. ]
You wanted to open the door with 'Treasure' on it, right?
no subject
[sacred path or whatever? she read that, like, ten minutes ago, okay.]

anyway, ]
R- right. Okay. Umm...
[ They go back!! I'm assuming it's an easy, short trek. And at the doors, Koharu lifts the orb to the door going right. ]

both of you roll a d20.]

... Oh.
[ Okay well. ]
I... don't supposed you're any good at jumping really far?

[both the other path being blocked, and what's ahead of them.
her tail flicks almost excitedly, once, twice.
and in answer to koharu's question-- i am so sorry. she's just fucking Like This.
off she fuckin goes into the dark! no hesitation. YEET.]

does she keep going?]

... Oh.
[ Well, since it seems safe, Koharu follows after—not as swiftly, and a lot more cautiously, but she nevertheless walks. ]

i'm gonna be so for real she THOUGHT she was about to leap into a goddamn pit or something but she's chill with just crossing the invisifloor.]
