Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to make that sound like a challenge. It's just that for the most part, seems to me someone who is an expert at something is the right person to guide and teach to others. Do you think you have some level of, dunno, understanding or enlightenment I don't?
[It's her job to help and guide, all things considered, but...he does wonder about Ramiel as a person, too, beyond the duties as one of the angels guiding for redemption. In general Zuriel and Gamaliel seem easier to read, but he's having a bit of trouble figuring out Ramiel in some ways, so he decides to ask that directly, try to see how she thinks and feels]
[ well... it does come off like a challenge, though. and when ramiel feels that people are doubting her ability to do her job... she just kind of dissociates and goes into business mode. ]
I was chosen by God to do this job. Like the other Guardian Angels, I have my own perspective to offer on life and the afterlife.
But we encourage you to talk to each other just as much as to talk to us. If you're more comfortable with them, that's fine.
[Akihiko, not having realized he probably didn't word things well, stares at her, trying to see what he could get of her as a person, and kind of hits a wall there. It really reaffirms to him that yeah, she's more difficult to try to understand than Gamaliel and Zuriel. Perhaps less approachable?
But it's odd, because at the same time...]
I have been talking to you about things I haven't mentioned to anyone else. There's something about you that makes me feel like you're the best one to talk about the difficult things.
[He sure never brought up to Zuriel or Gamaliel or to any of his fellow redemption seekers anything about his Persona, nor about his concerns about the apple tree, nor has gone into musings with someone else in his vicinity. Only Ramiel has gotten the dubious privilege of being witness to his doubts and the things that make him frustrated about heaven.
Might be because he feels Ramiel will push back when it's right. Or might be because she was the one who gave guidance right from the beginning and that stuck with him. Or some other reason he hasn't realized yet, who knows]
[ unfortunately there is kind of a wall, yeah. she's still wary after their interaction before, when he had called her out to the murder motivation tree, pulled a gun, asked for power, and insisted everyone was going to die before she had reason to believe that would be the case.
and being the only one who hears his doubts and frustrations when they're about the exact things she believes in and is working for doesn't exactly feel like a privilege. but... what he says does make her shoulders relax a little bit. ]
Well. At the very least, I prefer people bring their frustrations to me instead of taking it out on the other two.
... Is there something that you'd like to talk about?
[Honestly if Akihiko at any point of the game realized he gave pretty big reasons to make Ramiel be wary of him, he'd right away get in touch with Ramiel to apologize, but the thought he might have caused her to feel this towards him never crosses his mind. At the time was too centered on his own thoughts and frustration to notice he really didn't handle things with amazing social skill, whooops.
He probably won't figure that out by himself. Part of me wishes he would, but dang, it likely won't happen]
...I might, actually. It's about everyone who gets locked away in that tower. [The culprits, really] I haven't gone to visit any yet. Do you think it's a good idea to go visit them?
[So far, Akihiko had taken for granted that anyone who gets influenced into killing probably won't be in any state to talk, so he didn't bother, but after three killers he's starting to feel like he's ignoring something he should pay more attention to]
They can't hurt you from in there, so I think it's a good idea.
From what I've heard, it sounds like they're still... a little different from their usual selves while they're in there. And the more information we have to work with regarding their behavior, the better.
[A little different...Akihiko recalls what Marcoh once told him about Jing Yuan in the tower. Maybe 'a little different' is depending on the personality of whoever ends up there...]
So you haven't gone yet to visit any of the three so far?
[Lack of time, maybe? Their execution needs to be planned for the next day, after all! Protocols, they sure need to be met]
[ it's mg mechanics and none of them have asked for an audience with us but: ]
We have our own work to do, after the trials. Besides, I think you all know each other better than we do. If anyone can get something helpful out of them, I... doubt it would be us.

[Akihiko straightens up]
