Oh, with certainty. Apparently, there is an old saying - that Rome was not built in a day? It was not explored in a day, either! Haha.
[ taair beams as he says this, clapping his hands together. pleased at what is just a really corny joke ]
Honestly, sometimes these places feel... empty. I know it is by design, but - to see ruins is to know that someone was there. Even if it's a replica, or not necessarily the same, humanity leaves behind a footprint. And I will always, always love that.
Between all the ruins to explore and everyone suddenly blessed with fine furred feathered and scaled friends, I think I am having a very, very good day.
So it wasn't. [ that really is kind of dad joke levels of corny but they let it slide because taair is so happy about it. ]
I think the same can be said about a lot of places. Ruins, ghost towns, sunken ships, stuff like that. Everything had to come from somewhere, but finding that somewhere is always the question. It's then up to whoever is adventurous enough to find the answer.
[ yes yes he is nodding to this with complete and utter investment, because gabriel is EXACTLY right and those are the dreams that taair adores, too. but - ]
Oh! Have you not met her yet? Miss Eupha got a snake... she's very cute.
[ snake in the garden of eden....... ] Mm. She said that she wrote to the Radiant - er. She wrote to God in a message, since they are an important part of her culture, and God granted her her wish.
Perhaps I should try. [ with a little laugh. ] I did write Them a letter, but I do miss having a bird...
--But, I digress. She is quite mischievous and friendly, or so I am told! I got to hold her yesterday for a little while, and I'm sure you will get to meet her eventually, too. Miss Eupha gave me a wonderful lesson on Mustari funerary culture.
Huh. Guess God's good for something after all. [ they seem curious about this. ] As long as she's happy and this snake doesn't, like, bite people, it's probably fine.
Nothing wrong with writing them, I guess. See if they get back to you. [ but more about snek. ] I'm not sure I totally get Eupha's everything about her culture but if it makes her happy then at least somebody is in this place. I never thought snakes could have personalities though. You've probably never seen one before, right?
What're they gonna do, fire me? That'd require them to pay attention to anything I'm doing here. [ smite them, coward!!! ]
I don't have a ton of experience with snakes, but I don't think most of them are meant to be friendly. I always got the impression they just want to be left alone. Guess Eupha lucked out.
As for the snakes - truly, I think Miss Eupha could befriend any animal, so it doesn't surprise me. She's such a wonderful person to spend time around.
What if I wanted to hear more about your week instead? [ teasing. ] After the weekend it feels almost uneventful. Not that I'm going to complain about it. I don't mind a slower start.
Then, we will simply have to go around and around in the strange human ritual called a conversation.
[ teasing back, warmly, as he gets comfy and props his chin in his hands. ]
Mm... yes, to say the least! Surely, at least your Thursday will not be so chaotic, this time...?
[ maybe ] Honestly, my dear friend, the beginning of the week is often my favorite part. I so look forward after a difficult weekend to what new places will be revealed to us. There is something to be said for the dawn of a fresh week, and the hope that comes with it.
Plus, I've made a habit of spending this time with you each week! And I quite enjoy our little talks.
Even if it is, it's not like I can do much about it. The tavern's a public place, just like the bar's always been public. Maybe some of you will get bored and go somewhere else though. There's time.
[ but they listen, hands braced on the bar in a relaxed sort of lean as they nod along. ]
The new islands are always pretty interesting to look through. The ones that were picked out for you during this trial are all pretty different from each other. I'll go back and look myself, too. But I won't disagree. I never mind when you come by. Makes my job a little less boring, and you always have something new to say. I like the breakup in the monotony.
[ the monotony of knowing people are going to die, maybe. ]

...but - yes, you are correct... That was the first time I'd ever seen one. I was surprised at how friendly she was...

She seems nice. I've only talked to her a few times but you can just tell with some people. I bet she could too though.
