I talked to Wiš'adel about this. Some people enjoy fighting. It's not something I can fault, morally. Though, I wish they wouldn't do it while they're already injured.

I really like the sense of freedom in it. I've even been stopping myself from calculating the optimal route to escape.

That makes sense. It's easier to bond with people when you share the same time with them.

Well, it's the strangest thing. I received a message on Sunday, not long after the expulsion... I showed it to Jiaoqiu, and he said that it was Morse code. And after we sat and decoded it for a bit, it said... "Knock knock."

[ thoughtfully... ]

I thought it was someone trying to...enter something? As if they were knocking on a door. But, Jiaoqiu informed me that it's also a type of wordplay joke, and now I have these two pieces of information, but I'm not sure what to do with them.

So it's some kind of prank?

Maybe...? But I don't know where it came from. Or from whom. The phone merely said "unknown number".

When I looked up the jokes, they usually seem to be a call and response. Knock knock, who's there. It cannot be a very good prank, if I'm unable to respond...

Outside of your public posts on Chipper, no one should be able to reach you. It isn't as if your numbers were shared with the rest of Heaven.

I don't really know. I'm not sure what the sender's intention was or if they wanted a response. And if they did, how they expected to get one...

But it wouldn't hurt to try, right?

Have you not read very many, Ramiel? Or experienced many, I suppose - I know a bit about the socioeconomic structure of your world, but not a lot of you!

A lot of jokes are about saying things you don't mean. So I'm getting better with them, but...

[ sometimes you take things too literally and can't detect sarcasm. ]

A learned skill... sometimes, honestly, I think many of the interactions I have here with others are mostly just me doing my best to understand exactly what's going on. [ he laughs when he says this, a little sheepish. ]
