Hey, if it helps? I don't know if I belong here either. I'm still trying to figure it out... maybe that's why I'm not an angel. But this wasn't really what I thought heaven would be like, myself. Can't blame anybody for being unnerved.
I figured it was like this. Either I wander around aimlessly without really settling in, or I find something to do with my time while I figure out what's next for me. When I heard about this set up, I volunteered for the job. The bar runs on its own just fine, but... I dunno. Not like the Angels can be everywhere all the time.
It's the making conversation part I don't mind being here for. The free drinks are a bonus. [ said as they begin mixing a drink for themself. ] The Angels are always there to listen, and there's almost forty of you in the mix, but isn't that what bartenders are for? Keeping secrets and listening to things people can't tell anyone else out loud.
That, and the constant stream of people's nice. [ they do not comment on tossing out drunks, but the lack of comment is probably enough to say they would do so. ]
I don't know why I'm here, actually. [ they will be honest about that. ] Could be because I asked in my last moments, or could be because God really needed a bartender and knew I'd come knocking on their door. I wouldn't call myself virtuous. I'm just... trying to be better, maybe.
Well. I suspect there's some variation. Charlie may be a devil, but I think she's possibly a literal saint, for example. And Yves... assuming he really is the way he comes across. You never know.
I'll take your word on that. Haven't spoken to either of them yet, but I won't be surprised if I don't either. [ though this makes them think. ] Got an assessment on anybody else I should hear about?
Now you're just asking for idle gossip. No one so obviously strikes me as unneeding redemption as Charlie, but there are the ones where I suspect your work will be cut out for you.
Oh, I bet. [ they do not deny it's idle gossip, but what do you expect from a being who spends all day in a bar? ] I'll probably meet most of you eventually. I'm not going out of business anytime soon.
