I won't deny that being the bearer of an Enchanted Blade has completely defined my life. [for better or for worse.] But I'll never regret accepting Kumeyuri from Rokuhira-san.

Because it's important to you. And what Rokuhira stood for is something you firmly believe in, right? You don't seem like someone who accepts great responsibility without knowing how it'll change you and accepting it.

Responsibility isn't something you half-ass.

You'd be surprised how many people might not actually agree with that. [ not her, but in general. ] Or they don't know exactly how much responsibility they're agreeing to.

Maybe. Once you make your choices, though, all you can do is adapt.

Like I said, you can't control everything. You just have to try and react to things in the way that you'll regret the least later on.

I have some here and there, like everyone else. I don't think it's really possible to regret absolutely nothing.

But I do stand by most of the choices I've made, even if I'm not necessarily proud of them all.

I think to regret nothing would mean you don't feel anything at all, and that's an even bigger problem. [ says the girl who does feel a lot even if she does not always say so. ] Not that I want to say it's a good thing, but... I think that's a good thing.

Mm. Yeah, I get what you mean. The same way that I'd tell some of the kids here that it's better if they don't get used to the deaths, even if it would make it easier to handle.

I would say the same should also be said for the adults here, but it may be too late and some of you are, unfortunately, too used to death. [ ... ] I don't want them to get too used to it either. This wasn't meant to hurt them worse.

Yes. He was already a ghost when we met. He was a ghost when he met the boys, too, a little earlier before me. He'd died about seven years ago.

How'd you meet, then?

I'm not entirely sure. According to the others, Noah sort of just showed up one day and they befriended him. He was living at Monmouth with Gansey and Ronan for a while. Nobody noticed he was dead until that moment we found his car, even though he tried to tell us multiple ways.

[he blinks.]

Nobody noticed he was dead...?

His bones were initially on the ley line still, so it meant he was able to draw enough energy to look alive and real. Without that energy, he would fade.

[the look of someone who doesn't understand what any of that means but he can probably get the gist of it.]
