I already have things in the present to fight for. They're more important to me right now than any dream.

[uruha can't even fathom how the next ten minutes of his life would go if he returned to life, let alone one day more, when any semblance of stability has been completely and utterly scorched and the ashes scattered to the wind.]

For the enemy to die, for starters.

[unfortunately, things have become complicated about who the "enemy" is.]

... they can die, can't they?

Unless they've obtained the secret to immortality, then yeah, they're only human. The problem is that they operate in secrecy.

[holyspirits]

Well that's annoying. [ they just say this, as if it doesn't irritate them that that's the problem. ] And even if you find them, they'll find other ways to continue operating in secret, won't they.

[kumeyuri]

There can't be that many of them, so it's just a matter of hunting them all down. Unfortunately, they're also good at hiring random thugs, so they don't often have to come out in person, and they kind of outnumber us in that regard.

What about holding the thugs for interrogation for more information? Can you overpower them enough for that?

[kumeyuri]

I personally haven't been in a position to do that instead of just killing them... although from what I've been told, the attempts to interrogate them that have been made haven't been successful for one reason or another.

There has to be another option. You can't just keep killing them if they're going to just keep sending more of them out. Not that I would have an idea what to suggest since you just took the suggestion I had and blew it apart...

Rather than a hired thug, we need to get info straight from one of the core members... which is easier said than done, since they're also the elite.

We might've been making progress on that front, actually, but I... didn't live long enough to confirm.

Chihiro—an ally—was engaged in combat with one of said elites, and I have faith that he could win. But we didn't get the chance to regroup.

[holyspirits]

He must have been a pretty good fighter if you thought he could, if what you said about the elites is true. [ like damn. ] ... you really thought so?

[kumeyuri]

Rather than a good fighter, specifically, he's a wielder of an Enchanted Blade. [all things considered, chihiro's actual swordsmanship is just okay.] That alone makes him a cut above the rest.

That would do it then. Do you know what his allows him to do?

[kumeyuri]

He summons goldfish. [realizes that might sound stupid out of context but also uruha is an enten stan. kawaii sword.] I've only seen a few of his abilities firsthand. One of them allows him to move at high speed—fast enough that most opponents can't see him coming. Another allows him to do a widespread slash.

[makes a wide arc gesture with his arm]

[ judging by the way they're staring, it does in fact sound stupid out of context. ]

Goldfish. [ they are repeating this. ] Funny kind of fish where you're from if he can do all of that. But they're just... special techniques. Is that it?

[unfortunately the goldfish are actually very sad in context. uruha doesn't know the context, however. he will just stan anything and everything to do with the rokuhira family.]

Basically. But one Enchanted Blade is equivalent to an army of your average sorcerers.

... can anybody wield these blades if their spiritual energy is good enough? Or does it take something else specific?

[ they are concerned somebody can kill these guys and steal their swords. ]

... Each Enchanted Blade forms what's known as an Eternal Contract with its owner. In return for giving up your sorcery for good, you're the only person who can use that blade's powers for as long as you live.

So if anyone else wants to use one, they have to kill the contractor first.

[holyspirits]

... makes sense. [ and it does, to them, probably a little more sense than some of the other things uruha's said about it so far. ] And there's no sort of punishment for the contract being broken at all? Can you break the contract even if you aren't killed?

Nope. Eternal means eternal. The only way for it to end is in death.

[so sure that's the punishment, you're dead.]

And so the sword you have here with you... ?

[kumeyuri]

It's just a normal sword. Kumeyuri is in the hands of the enemy.
