wis'adel throws a bottle of alchemist's fire at one of the figures.
at the same moment she does that, one of the other figures throws a bottle of alchemist's fire at her. the bottle smashes against her and will immediately explode into a fire propelled by the mixture. sort of like a molotov but stronger. the figure wis'adel threw the bottle at also screams as she catches fire.
the tallest figure is the one who threw the pig's head. he emerges from the darkness. you see a copy of basilio, except his eyes are entirely jet black, with black sclera. he's holding the ax above his head, but he's making a beeline towards basilio's prone body, not currently trying to attack anyone.
the girl on fire, screaming, is a copy of koharu. she won't do anything this round except catch fire, so good job. but it probably isn't pleasant to watch a version of koharu be on fire.
the one who threw the alchemist's fire is a copy of wis'adel. that was also her turn, but her black eyes are locked directly on the real wis'adel. she wants to fight you and you only, you can tell by that gleam in her eyes.
and then, sneaking around in the dark is the small copy of saber. saber may be trying to create some distance, but this copy is creeping around the edge of the pool, trying to close that distance.]
[oh, of course. she laughs, sharp and delighted, as that copy of her makes the exact same move-- even as it ends in, you know, setting her on fire. wiš'adel just throws herself into the water as quickly as she can manage, dagger in hand when she surfaces.
[so, here's how it goes the next round. for ease of knowing who is who, i will call all of you by your real names and the clones will be called "wis'adel" "koharu" "saber" and "basilio"
so basilio will go after gloomfang, who is lying prone on the ground. he has an identical ax to the one gloomfang is carrying, and he will raise it above his head whenever gloomfang tries to get up to drive it down into him.
griefblade throws herself in the water and extinguishes the fire, but in the pool, she has less balance, leaving her vulnerable for when wis'adel lunges at her, brandishing an identical dagger.
koharu continues to scream, on fire, but will manage to pat herself out finally. and she will draw from her bag... a potion with a handwritten label that reads "insanity's kiss" and she will toss it at sorrowglare. hollowcry doesn't do anything this round. but when the potion hits sorrowglare, they will feel a frenzy come over them. they'll attack whoever is nearby, whether they're on his side or not.
saber lunges at sorrowglare with the sword, leaping to drive it into them.]
[she does have less balance, true, but now so does her clone! girl help we are in the water... it's fine. sorry she can't fight without being unhinged about it.
anyway this is all to say that she takes the dagger without trying to dodge, because what she's doing instead is trying to grapple and drown her clone.]
[ Oh. Oh no, this is a fight. Koha ahem, sorry, Hollowcry glances between everyone, clones and all, frantically backpedaling to find a corner to obscure herself in. ]
Aaah, what should I...?!
[ Maybe there's something in her pouch?! She'll start rummaging in a panic, eyes darting between peeking what's inside and keeping an eye on everyone else. ]
ok well, he’s been very powerfully prone for the past few tags, which is totally fair and valid, karlach did it so many times on my bg3 run because i have terminal “doesn’t look before i make my team power run through grease traps and then wonders why they ate it”itis, and karlach is absolutely perfect and has never done anything wrong in her whole life so i feel proud.
he does in fact try to get up, so give me the axe. he’s got a hand on his own, so he’s gonna try and deflect it but i would love a little axe wound somewhere please and thank you. ]
well, the good news at least is that the closest thing to them at this exact moment is the person trying to kill them. sorrowglare will try to dodge, but not like trying to move entirely out of the way. they're going to allow themselves to get hit just so they can get closer to saber and drive their own sword through their neck. hi. ]
[all of you failed your rolls but since becks is awake now, i'll tell you the rules anyway. it's pretty straightforward - you have to kill these guys. but specifically, you should be trying to kill your own double. a half remembered poem or saying, the most hallowed mercy is death. grant yourself death. you can attack the others too, even kill them, but if someone else kills your double for you, you may get a small punishment for that. also, the doubles are exact copies of you guys, meaning they have exactly the same things in their inventory at the start of this fight as you do.
griefblade is drowning her double, but wis'adel isn't going to give up so quickly. she's struggling back, trying to move so she drives both her horns and the knife into griefblade's side.
hollowcry is panicking and rummaging through her pouch. could she possibly have anything useful? meanwhile, koharu draws a gun. she will attempt two shots. one will be at hollowcry and it is up to you, anais, whether it hits or misses and where it hits. the other one can hit the first one of you who wants a little gunshot wound.
the ax will crunch into gloomfang's side, leaving a deep, nasty wound. but he's at least standing now, so he can fight back.
sorrowglare can drive the sword into saber's neck, yeah. they dodge to the side, but it definitely looks like a pretty fatal wound. they aren't going to give up, though. while still standing, they're going to try to cut sorrowglare to ribbons, bring them down together.]
[fine by her! she'd be so disappointed if her double went down too easily, after all-- it's a copy of her, so it'd be a pretty shitty one if it just gave up and died, right?
while wiš'adel struggles, griefblade pulls the knife from her side. it's hard to get much strength behind things in water, so what she opts for instead of a stab is trying to just slice through her double's throat to hurry this up.]
If anything, the gunshot gets her attention, probably because a second later Hollowcry feels a searing pain starting from her shoulder. She yelps again, finally pulling her own handgun out, stumbling back against a pillar. ]
...
[ Well, she isn't liking where this is going! At all!! But these things couldn't be real if they're just imitating them...
So she lifts her own hangun, and with trembling hands, fires off her first shot at her double. ]
sorrowglare will get hit, because like. idk how you would dodge that when you are connected to someone via your sword in their neck. but they will just grunt in respond, before moving to just try to decapitate saber. goodbye.....
however they will not wait to see if they go fully down or not before then running to just go attack whoever is the next closest person to them due to the frenzy FREE STAB WOUNDS??? FREE STAB WOUNDS ANYONE????
they are not paying attention to what injuries saber gave them because they are so frenzied via potion and also because i have not decided that yet ]
honestly i think it would be funny if, as basilio is trying to swing his axe at gloomfang again, he gets hit with a frenzied blade from saber? sorrowglare? who are we anymore, causing him to hunch over in surprise.
it makes it a lot, lot easier for the-artist-formerly-known-as-basilio-now-known-as-gloomfang to get back up on his feet and, heedless of the pain from the fresh gash in his side, swing his axe up and straight at basilio's neck. eat axe, arsehole. ]
[okay well i gave you guys a free bullet and none of you wanted it! see why i bother doing anything for you guys...
i will say the bullet manages to hit wis'adel (as in the clone), but since she's currently drowning her, if you would like griefblade to get hit a little bit too that's also okay. but wis'adel is hit, and that stops her from managing to fight back as her throat is slit.
hollowcry's bullet pierces her double through the heart, and she goes down. between being on fire and being shot, she isn't doing so good.
sorrowglare manages to decapitate their double, but is still in the frenzy so yeah you guys might wanna do something about that.
gloomfang also manages to ax his double directly through the face, but is being stabbed by sorrowglare.
you guys all successfully managed to kill your doubles! you may continue on down the stairs! oh aside from sorrowglare still trying to kill you, which you may want to deal with first.
the potion's effects will start to wear off of sorrowglare now, but there is enough time for everyone to get some last minute pvp in this round if they want.]
[idk man sorrowglare seems a lot like y'all's problem! she's waiting here for you to get down the water stairs, and also stealing her double's shit unless siz tells me to stop her sinful devil hands because it all disappears or something like that. but if it doesn't she's going to dual wield knives now.
oh yeah the bullet cracks one of her horns for sexy horn damage i'm taking that thanks]
[ stopping the pvp is all up to gloomfang now because YOU THINK SHE KNOWS WHAT TO DO ABOUT A CRAZY PERSON WITH A KATANA? i mean pvp her if you want too i think that would be cool and sexy but she does NOT know how to fight back against that ]
sorrowglare is pretty fast and very good with a sword, unsurprisingly as it is listed in their profile, so! running to hollowcry and striking her will not be too much of an issue, especially since she doesn't know how to deal with a crazy person with a katana. choose your injury....
they don't actually wait to see if she goes down or not, before immediately rushing to gloomfang next to also strike. you are free to also attack back so that sorrowglare can stop attacking everyone violently before it wears off but also pick whatever injury you want
[ well gloomfang DOES know how to deal with people with swords, so that's nice. sorrowglare can get a nice slice in on his leg because his legs are waaay too uninjured right now, before gloomfang swings the butt of his axe down on his arm to try and get him to drop the sword in reflex.
the non-sharp part, i emphasise. i'm not giving you limb loss for free. ]
[does everyone even know saber is cursed or do they just think they're like that.
well, anyway, feel free to react however you like to getting stabs, but for ease i'm also assuming you're going to descend the staircase into the pool so i can get us to the last thing.
when you step through the pool, you are warped to another dimension. it's a strange, dark, black and gray dimension with swirling clouds and the occasional lightning bolt lighting up the sky(?) with a flash of bright purple. this is a dead place. it's almost an empty void, but the ruins of a crumbled, ancient temple also exist in this place, so there are floating rocks, pillars, broken statues, that sort of thing. it's dark, but you can see just fine, it's just hazy.
it's a little like being on the surface of the moon, in that this is an alien place where no life exists, but also in that gravity doesn't work quite the same way. you won't float away, but you're fairly light, so if you jump you can go a pretty far distance, and you can sort of leap and float between the various rock formations to move about.
it's immediately obvious where you need to go, though. at the bottom of this void there is a large platform. it looks like a prison almost; the platform seems to be hung from ruins of the temple by spiked chains. in the center of the disc there is an arcane circle, glowing with light, and in the center of that circle is a person, collapsed to the ground, with their hands and feet manacled to the prison with magic chains. you can't make out who this is, you just see that they are being held prisoner here.
the nightsong is a person, it turns out.
but your orders are unchanged. find it and destroy it. only the one of you who is worthy will be capable of doing so.
you may all jump and float down to the platform now.]
[sorrowglare is valid? i have to be so real she assumes they're just trying to take out their competition for getting to destroy the nightsong... it's a valid move... the fact that they stop is more confusing than the pvp but whatever, it's their life!
she jumps and floats right along, then, barely stopping to survey this strange space; she's injured, sure, and she's absolutely still bleeding from her wounds, but this has never stopped her. there's a lot that she can take before she reaches that point, after all. these are things she can worry about once the mission is over with, once she can rest, and so she ignores the lingering pain and exhaustion and weakness in her body to push forward. almost there. almost done.
once she reaches the platform, she pauses there, peering at the imprisoned figure, and twirls the knife in her hand.]
Huh. Not what I was expecting!
[the smart thing to do would be to just go for it. try to be the first to strike and find out if she's worthy enough for the kill.
[ the group really just accepted that sorrowglare suddenly wanted them all dead out of nowhere
when it wears off they are just... very confused and squinting around... but if no one asks about it then they are not going to explain anything bye.
they will stop behind the girl, looking between them and the nightsong. the adrenaline from the fight wearing off is making them notice their wounds i still haven't picked yet more, but. it's fine. they will wait to see what the others do. ]
