Is it all right if I ask about what happened last week? It seemed like there were several things that... were not supposed to happen the way they did. Is that right?

You can ask. [ they lean off to the side and sigh, leaning their cheek on a closed fist ] Yeah. Didn't expect the weird lockdown, didn't expect Jing Yuan to hurt Charlie, didn't expect him to not just peacefully board the train instead of fighting...

Then, is the cause of the barriers from that night still unknown?

Yeah. [ they sound annoyed about this ] It was a localized event and didn't last that long, so it's hard to pinpoint. It looks like a glitch--err, like a malfunction? And it hasn't happened again so far, so I don't think it's anything to concern ourselves about too much.

[ it's not like it'd happen weekly! ]

Some of those I spoke to mentioned that Sir Jing Yuan's demeanour was strange... That he was acting differently from usual.

Yeah, I've heard. I didn't know him too well, so I couldn't say for myself how true that is, but I trust the general assessment. [ they tap at a key without really pressing down on it ] The running theory is that it was a sickness from his home. It's one that makes you mad. If he came in with it, it wouldn't have been cured.

A sickness? ... I see...

In light of the recent events, I wonder if I might ask... Would it not be helpful if my eyesight were restored? To perceive the flow of magic and the concentrations of energy and emotions, it may be possible to recognize such anomalies sooner...

I don't know how your eye works exactly, so I can't say for sure. But even if you were right, though it's sealed away right now, it'll come back with time. We can't rush that or it could mess things up for you in the long run.

I-it could mess up... what? My eye?

If we force it, it could. [ a beat as they realize how that might sound ] That's not something you have to worry about otherwise though!

I... I see.

So this limiter will lift over time?

[holyspirits]

It should. Your powers are still within you, they're just dormant, for a bunch of reasons. Part of it was also to put everyone on the same level in this place, just in case.

Was there worry that we would be a danger?

[holyspirits]

Hmmm... A little from each other, I guess, because accidents happen? Nothing like what did happen, even with powers. It's more like... you're all being judged and have to do things on equal grounds, but powers could give an advantage for some people? That's not the only reason they were sealed, and not even close to being the most important one, but it was considered.

Then... the intent is for us to di what good we can with our limited ability, to prove our moral character?

Mm... Yeah, I guess you could say it like that. Like I said, it's a low one on a long list of reasons your powers are sealed right now, but it is one of them.
