[ y'all are so tiny. but he peers at the bulky laptop with interest, eyes scanning, before nodding and gesturing to the door. ]

I'm only familiar with a few of Fontaine's clockwork meka, but I can at least address the rest with clarity. [ he moves to open the door, holding it open like a good peepaw. ]

Let me see... [ following on their heels! the place is roomy enough for him to be able to imagine up a few things at once, but he'll start one by one so that gamaliel can look at things at their leisure. ]

The most common automaton in Teyvat is part of lost technology that persists as a threat to the average person, as they are triggered by motion and do not discriminate between their targets.

[ he probably doesn't have to manipulate the clouds with his hands, but it's habit from his archon power and what remains as an adeptus, so he imagines it in such a way - and forms a dormant ruin guard for them. ]

[ he lets it stay at rest for now, and allows them to investigate it as-is. ]

Not even the largest of these automatons, though we have few of those in Liyue compared to other nations as I know it. [ ... ] A fallen nation. They had created them as war machines, and after their destruction their remaining automatons were left to wander Teyvat aimlessly.

Well, they used to be controlled by those that created them, so they were less inclined to attacking indiscriminately.

But since their fall, they no longer have orders. Anything that moves and triggers their weapon systems is "fair game."

Corruption is possible, given that it's been 500 years since. I know that there are some automaton that are immovable in the sense that they've eroded or their power cores are no longer operational.

Studies have gone into trying to find solutions or uses, but I believe Sumeru - the Nation of Dendro, whose Archon is the God of Wisdom - has banned extensive research on some ancient technology for risk of it being used for the wrong reasons. Mostly, adventurers are commissioned to fight them due to their danger to everyday people, and they're usually more aimed towards stopping them permanently than overriding.

[ he gestures through the clouds, and the "eye" in the center flickers to life in a golden, vibrant light, the ruin guard stiltedly but sturdily rising up to its feet. ]

I wouldn't know, for certain, although I've not heard of anything too disastrous so I assume that the Akademiya has managed to keep things under control. Or under wraps.

[ it lumbers and seems to mostly depend on its legs for getting up, steps slow and thundering as it walks around for the angel. ]

Over the past 500 years, I've also not heard anything about making breakthroughs with regards to their lost technology. While these models are slow, there are others that are much faster - regardless, their range is quite broad. Getting close to an operational one is quite difficult.

In a way. Half government, half school. The scholars of Sumeru are their leaders, as well.

[ so. not necessarily wrong. ]

There are weak points that will disable it, although they recover quickly. [ he comes closer, summoning his spear from the clouds and extending it and his arm up towards the glowing, golden eye. ] Here, and on the other side, mirroring. Their power core has an energy that no longer exists in Teyvat, since the fall of Khaenri'ah, and has not yet been replicated.

[ comes back to my genshin lore tags for a few more rounds and then sunday audiences now that i think i'm caught up ]

What sort of governments are you more familiar with..? [ bahamagama lore? but he taps the end of the spear on the glowing, golden eye before dissipating it again since he can't actually touch the weapon. ] That depends upon your aim, when you're in the midst of being fired upon by the machine. Would you like a demonstration of its weapon capabilities?

[ wait until you see all the other ones. ]

Hm. Perhaps I will ask some of the others.

[ they're probably from earth. but he'll gesture at the ruin guard, and it goes through some fun motions for gamaliel. i had to convert these on ezgif to gifs because of webp i hate this file type why does it exist.

stomp, and clap! ruin guard smash! the file name for this one was genuinely beyblade. get sploded idiod.

Like the arcade..? [ sure why not, break the fourth wall gam. ]

- ah, yes to both. Archers and gunmen, along with those whose Visions can cast elemental attacks with greater range, often are better for taking down the automatons from Khaenri'ah due to how hard they hit but so that they might be easier to stun. They will continue to get up within a few seconds, if you're not prepared.

Unfortunate that it takes quite a few hits to their weak points to actually take them down permanently, but I believe they use them to track their targets.

I see. Much to learn.

[ at least a lot of this i ALREADY HAVE HANDY. he reaches back behind himself, unattaching the accessory that lays dormant on his jacket to show them. ]

Mine is a false Vision, so that I might blend in with the people of Teyvat without them questioning why I might manipulate Geo energy. But they're... elemental foci, in a way, bestowed upon a small number of Teyvat's population.

[ nodding. he's used to people understanding his terms but he'll circle around as he has so far. ]

Essentially. There are beings in Teyvat that are naturally attuned to the seven primary elements, such as adepti as myself, so being able to wield elemental energy without a Vision is a sign of otherness.

The elements are Anemo, wind; Geo, stone; Electro, lightning; Dendro, plantlife; Hydro, water; Pyro, fire; and Cryo, ice.
