There are a lot of different ways to overcome regrets. Accepting them and moving on is one. Going back to try and correct mistakes is another.

I guess it just depends on what kind of regrets they are.

I just want to go back and do all the things I didn't think to do before... That's all.

And you can't do them somewhere new.

I think that it's a good place, and that people are strangely hesitant about what amounts to moving somewhere new.

But what I really want is for you to earn the choice to decide, and do what makes you happiest. And I want to understand what will make you happy.

I think a lot of us must be the same. Everyone has people they want to be with, and things they want to do, and it isn't always possible to get that elsewhere. But there are people who want that new chance, too—my senpai have been cupids for a long time now, even though they have the same chance to return to their human lives like I do.

That's true. But it can be true when you're alive, too. You'll have limited opportunities, and things will happen that are outside of your control. Probably more-so than in Heaven.

[ for the record, their tone isn't argumentative. mostly just curious. ]

They all have the same chance, but they haven't taken it? Or are they still working toward it?

[ There's a small hum of acknowledgement, like yeah, guess that's true. And then: ]

I suspect the former, but I don't really know why.

Maybe they like where they're at more than they liked their lives?

Maybe. It is pretty different from living as a human.

How so?

There's no school or the normal type of work, so we're free to do what we want. But since we're mostly focused on helping people fall in love, the recon work is pretty different...

I didn't think I'd ever get involved with so many gun matches either.

[holyspirits]

Then it sounds like there is still work, if you have tasks that still take up your free time.

[ wait hang on. ] You use guns for that?

[cupidsammo]

—Huh? Well, yeah. Cupids have to shoot their targets.

That sounds dangerous.

Not really. Our weapons don't actually hurt anyone.

[holyspirits]

Like toy guns?

They're a lot realer than that! I guess they're about as real as it gets... But the bullets don't hurt—no one feels a thing, actually.

[holyspirits]

I see. I guess if you aren't alive there's no reason they would need to function based on the living world's rules.

[cupidsammo]

As supernatural beings working under a goddess, we definitely have a more... magical flair to our process.

It's probably more fun that way.

I... can't disagree. It's been pretty crazy, but it is fun.

Well, sort of. But the idea of choosing who to make fall in love does sound hard.

Ah... Ha ha. Sometimes it's really obvious, but when it gets tricky you start thinking about how someone's future is in your hands, and it gets nervewracking.
