batterypack: (It has no appeal)

[ her eyes shift away from the cards to peer at him. ]

Oh, Anders. [ a pause. ] That wasn't for you.

[ the cards are doing their fancy lil shuffle, and the first card it spits out is the page of cups. she's back to watching... ]

I don't know why I expected anything different.

[ i guess dragon age does technically have tarot. at least in the meta. but i don't know if anders is familiar or not. ]

What does it mean?
batterypack: (Better find another superstition)

[ a low hum. ]

It's a card of possibilities. Potential, if you will. It's been "my" card for as long as I can remember, and I don't know why I thought that'd change here either.

There was a girl who worked at the Pearl who could read these.

[ it was never really his bag though. ]

Is potential bad? It doesn't seem like the worst one you could get.

My entire family knows how to.

[ so, you know. ]

I wouldn't say potential's bad, but it depends on what that potential could bring. I don't think my mom ever thought it was bad for me, but... [ she shrugs. the cards begin to shuffle again. ]

You may as well pick one for yourself, too.

[ i have to say its so exciting to not be the molly this time. i get to have my tarot done :) yay :)

well, he'll hesitate ... but reach to pull one.
]
batterypack: (You can't carry it with you)

[personal profile] batterypack 2025-02-25 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ i should say this is justice because it's funny, but i will not. zuriel's watching, and what anders seems to have pulled is the tower. ]

... the Tower. It's symbolic of change. Dramatic change, really.

[ you've stumbled on the exact dragon age tarot fanartists dilemma. the eternal tug of war. anders and his two very precise and accurate cards, its the kind of greed they talk about in the bible.

going to sit down as well, pulling the card over to look at it - not able to quite look zuriel in the eye. the imagery is clear enough. a tower in flames, two figures in free fall. the halo of a shattered circle of magi bobs very lightly over his head.
]

It doesn't seem like change for the better.

[ she doesn't mind that he can't look at her. she lets him have that moment to himself and allows him to take the card for himself. i'm glad fandom also agrees. anyway... the tower can in fact be a scary sort of card. ]

You think so? [ lightly. gauging where his head is. ] What kind of change does it seem to be? There are different variations of "not good."

[ he's not having the easiest time handling a flat card with bandaged hands, but is doing his best. ]

Change rarely comes peacefully. Those who oppose it will blame you for upsetting the "peace" - so they can continue to peacefully ignore everything around them.

Still, people die.

[ she can hold it for him if he wants... ]

Ignorance and peace are very rarely the same thing. If anything it's actually worse because the only person you can blame is yourself in the end for ignoring all of the signs.

[ ...there's a sigh. ]

And still, people die. [ there's a pause. ] ... we'll find them somehow. They're not completely destroyed, just lost.
