You've yet to lead me astray, my dear friend.

[ hehe. he pats her arm once, and off they go!! ]

So far, it seems a relatively quiet start to the week, doesn't it? Even the prompt on the Chipper was less... argumentative, than usual.

Are you only saying that because it was almost a unanimous agreement? [ walking, walking... ] Maybe everyone is finally getting a little more used to one another and realize there's nothing wrong with the questions.

[ no. ]

It has been quiet though. This place reminds me of home a little. Not as bright with fair things, but outdoors like this. Mysterious. That sort of thing.

Hmm... I don't think a little debate and discourse is a bad thing. I'd be a bad scholar if I wanted us to always agree. But - sometimes people do take it a little...seriously.

[ he's way too polite to say it but zuriel can likely hear the (anders) at the end of that sentence. ] So - it's nice, to have a bit of a break. We all debated very much last week, after all.

And - yes, of course! That's right, with your grand hunt for mystery...ah, how exciting. It must feel nice, to feel a little closer to home?
batterypack: (She hid around corners)

Yeah, I heard about your debate last week. [ the one they set up and dipped. listen. funny. ] Some of you are very, very passionate and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can be... overbearing, sometimes.

[ she tucks a strand of loose hair behind an ear and nods along. ]

This is a little more woods-y than home, but it's better. It's closer, really, and that's all I could ask for. It's one of the more interesting islands because you can discover so much more every time you're here.

[ heh. the mention of discover brightens taair's entire face, his eyes lighting up. ]

Well. If that's the case, my dear friend, then I think I'm going to love it here, too.

[ there's something a little roguish to it, delighted. to the front door! and to memshare hell. ]
batterypack: (Take note it's not impressive)

[personal profile] batterypack 2025-03-05 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ to the front door! we are wandering and she's pretty pleased to spend time with him, opening the diner door and ushering him in

and winding up straight in mirror hell. the middle of the maze, to be exact. ]

No. [ no? no!!! she sounds agitated, bristling a little as she glowers at the mirrors around them. ] There has to be a better method for dealing with these doors.

Ah - Zuriel, Zuriel, don't worry. Let's see if we can find out way out, hmm? Just a quick inconvenience - or a whole other adventure.

[ arm in arm still, he pats hers, reassuringly, and then starts to look around the corner, trying to decide what is a mirror and what is not. which means, just in time...

the mirrors begin to show a scene that is so blurry, at first, it's almost impossible to tell there's a memory at all. but things clarify, over time, and so too does the memory: the story of a prince in a tower. ]
batterypack: (And days are always making you blue)

[personal profile] batterypack 2025-03-05 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not worried, Taair. I'm annoyed we've been interrupted. These is a difference. [ but she settles down and she walks along with him, following a path and trying to find the route to get them back out. on occasion she catches a glance in the mirror, but it's only when the memory plays that she realizes what she's seeing isn't the present.

it's the past, the distant and not so distant, and even as they walk she keeps her eyes trained on the scenes that span years and years. and eventually, when it comes to an end, she stops all together to watch the loop begin again. she's frowning, finding herself growing more and more frustrated the longer she stares at it, and she's silent as it completes the full loop once more.

but eventually she says... ]

Do you suppose that was always their plan? Or did tragedy just benefit them for their own agenda? [ yeah no she's mad. ]

[ god. well.

when she turns to look at taair, she'll see he's got his hand very lightly pressed to the glass - especially at the beginning, where the cycle of his memories are blurry and messy. it's as if maybe if he stares at it long enough, the blurry clouds will clear, the indistinguishable voices will clarify, and his childhood will be presented to him, as opposed to locked away.

he takes a deep breath when he realizes zuriel spoke, and turns his head to look at her, then back to the glass. the worst part is he doesn't even seem particularly upset about it - just kind of resigned. ]

... They weren't ever planning on losing control of Iria in the first place. [ taair says, soft - the overthrow of the original state of iria was a rightful one, in his opinion. ] So... a little bit of both, I think.

[ fate. destiny, like a guillotine. hanging over his head every single day of his lonely life. ]
batterypack: (I know exactly what I want)

[personal profile] batterypack 2025-03-05 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
And now you're stuck under someone else's thumb and unable to take your rightful place where you want to be. [ no she's going to stay mad!!! ] How can someone lie and treat a child like that for so long? Or, better yet... how arrogant does a person ave to be to think someday it won't all come undone?

this anger like. startles him? he's not expecting it, and he turns to look at her, eyes a little wide. ]

Zuriel...

[personal profile] batterypack 2025-03-05 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ blue "angry chihuahua energy" sargent, everyone. ]

If you're not going to be able to feel anger about this, then I'll do it on your behalf because this isn't right, Taair. And you know that.

[ weh. he huffs - a little bit of a laugh, almost fond, and ducks his head. ]

No...no, I suppose not. [ softly, just loud enough to be heard. ] It... is as I told you before, Zuriel. It is a long, sad story.
