[ this is probably a good thing, taair deserves to be able to bounce back even a little. ]
"Strange" is relative, I think. [ they gesture to their legos though. ] I think I'd probably kill a real plant if I tried, so... making something I can sustain.
Oh, do you really think so...? They're not too hard to take care of, if you find the right one. I used to keep a few flowerpots in my windows, here and there.
But - set that aside, this structure is impressive! [ he immediately comes over to examine it, peering underneath it and at it from the sides. ] From little blocks...? Fascinating.
I definitely missed out on having a green thumb. Guess we can't all be so talented.
[ they push the little structure ahead so taair can look at legos. ]
They have a bunch of sets that can create whatever. Buildings, cars, animals... I never really had an appreciation for them when I was young. Guess things change.
Yeah, there is. Never really knew what my hands were capable of either now that I think about it.
[ there's a little laugh though. ]
I could give it a shot, but I also think Jiao might kill me if I mess it up. [ but... ] Wonder if there're extra pots and soil around that greenhouse. Like spares that won't be missed.
[ mmmm... they will move the orchid off of the counter. i suppose i should also mention there is a slightly older bouquet of flowers on a different part of the counter but those are different. give them a second to come around to the other side of the bar. ]
Sure. Some of you keep getting on my ass about going outside more anyway. [ wry. like they think it's funny and unnecessary. ] Lead the way.
[ gabriel? romanced? what kind of bouquet. he looks very curious about it but doesn't ask like a nice boy, instead waiting patiently for him to finish. ]
Well, you can hardly blame us. [ teasingly ] Our friendship is based in your place of business. But.. I always think it's wonderful to get outside, when you have the chance.
[ but he will go and open the door! And. wow!! it's the house of mirrors.
[ it's white daphne, alstroemeria, daffodil, feverfew, and honey bracelet, all in a vase. they're a few weeks old now, but seem to be holding their shape. ]
I can, and I will, blame you guys a little. [ but okay, fine, away they go!!
right into the house of mirrors, and gabriel's about to make a comment about how this is not really outside, but then this is happening.
when the memory finishes and begins to loop, they tilt their head to watch again. part of him kind of goes "can't you just overpower this woman?", but they can recognize that it's difficult to get out from under someone's thumb. ]
... you know, this is and isn't about what I expected based on the things you've said. [ they do not sound thrilled about it. ]
[ googles all of these. oooh pretty. romance (this is not what any of these mean) roma
anyway. well - it's not surprising, honestly, to run into this memory over and over. the first part is so wonderful and taair tries to keep his focus on that, on the sights and sounds of convallaria town, the people he grew to know and love. as things get worse, though, he closes his eyes, and for the hundredth time, miguel's words echo through his head. It might not matter to you if you die, but it matters to everyone else.
and here he is, in heaven. dead, with a world left behind.
taair looks down at his hands, and when gabriel speaks, he huffs, the noise soft. ]
Is it better or worse to know I only spent a week there?
Depends. How much did you have to fight for that one week, again? Also, feels like a pretty narrow window for people finding you and knowing every single move you'd make while you were there.
Not as much as I could have, but... I lied, mostly. I told her that I was going to see the ruins, which wasn't necessarily untrue. But... I slipped my guards - it's just that the mercenaries of Convallaria were expecting my arrival, so... I was able to do so.
[ sometimes you have to sneak out, but you can only sneak out like. only a tiny bit. ]
[ the laugh is soft. maybe that was his own doing. ]
I loved it there. Convallaria Town. And they were in need - desperately so - nor did I want to get the mercenaries in any hot water. They were kind to me, and... understanding of the situation, too. The leader has become a dear, dear friend.

[ taair says with a warm smile from where is investigating the orchid. ]
Though... you never know, with a green thumb! Our garden here is quite lovely, Gabriel. I bet you could grow a plant if you tried.

[ MISCHIEF its related to plants. it's fine. ] And I think there is only way to find out! Shall we take a break?
