[ looks at ramiel in the library and decides not to go there.
instead! it is the afternoon and everything is extraordinarily pink. it is valentine's day in whoville, and zuriel appears to be on a mission to gather a few bouquets of flowers, juggling all of these in their arms. there's a tiny gust of wind though, and soon they are surrounded by red streamers and there's an annoyed sort of sound as they attempt to bat them off. go away!!!
[ that's valid. taair's on his way out of the library for fresh air, because that's a thing he can do now, and walking with a spring in his step. on his back are a pair of cute blue bird wings, tucked tightly so he might not end up running into someone because he's polite - and when he glances over to see a familiar holy figure in a little bit of distress, he hurries right over!! ]
Oh! Zuriel, you're looking a bit redder than usual! [ hee hee ] Here, allow me.
[ how tall are they anyway... taair's not tall himself, but he will reach up to pluck a couple of streamers out of the way with a laugh, batting them away in the wind. some get caught in his new feathers but that's okay. ]
[ so happy for his freedom. they turn their head when they hear a familiar voice, though there's a little "tch" noise at that joke. ]
Hilarious, Taair. [ they aren't mad about it though, and they do stop flailing a bit to let him help them.
this is where i tell you that zuriel is actually significantly shorter than taair, so he may be more helpful than you think. they are staring at his wings though, reaching up to make sure he doesn't get tangled himself. ]
Thanks. What's all this? [ a little gesture. wings? for their bird friend? ]
anyway he is laughing as he does this but it's a chuckle, very fond as he pulls a streamer free and tosses it aside. there you go, be free! ]
What's - [ he turns his head - and then laughs. ] You know, my dear friend - I have absolutely no idea. I nearly fell over when I woke up this morning, and they've sort of... been there, ever since. But it's relatively harmless... and as I have learned, they do not work very well.
[ which there is actually something extremely accurate about not being able to fly but he has not ascribed a thought to that at all, mostly because suddenly having extra appendages is weird enough. in typical taair fashion he is just rolling with it. don't ask how he knows they don't work. ]
It seems there is something strange in the air today, but I don't know what.
[ of course he tried to fly. this tracks, and they nod along as he says this. ]
It could be more side-effects of heaven. Getting used to this place since you aren't quite integrated, but... I never thought heaven would really give you wings. Not like that, anyway. It doesn't hurt or anything does it?
[ it should not despite how they look. they seem to have gotten distracted from their original endeavor. ]
No - all that did hurt was my first attempt at launch. [ he says with a little laugh. ] I'm not very good at moving them... they just sort of move on their own.
[ he manages to scoot one of the wings out a little to be pet if they want to! it's very soft. ]
What do you mean not like that...? You've got me terribly curious already.
They've very cute, actually. [ they will in fact pet out of curiosity, juggling their fuckton of flowers in the other arm. ]
Oh. Some people have this silly idea that if you go to heaven you get halos, a white robe, and little wings. Almost like Koharu's? But it's not like I believed it was real anyway.
[ his eyes go, immediately, to their halo... and there's a little smile on his face, playful. ]
Well... one out of three's not bad. [ lightly. the rustle of the flower draws his eye back too, though, and taair tilts his head, curious. ] Gathering flowers, Zuriel...? Is that what brings you over here today?
I'll take one of three. [ but they hold up the flowers to show him. they are very colorful, and all kinds. ]
I didn't want to take any from the garden itself, and I have a few art projects I could be doing with this. [ they just want things to do in their downtime. ] The flowers seem to restock anyway.
[ MY UNHOLY EYES that's fine. he sounds mildly fascinated by this, but he will do as instructed, heading over to the bouquets to select a few flowers - a few slender convallaria flowers, of course, and some bluebells, and after a moment, a few stems of daphne flowers.
and then he smiles at them!!! ] Alright! Off we go.
[ someday his eyes will be holy enough... they watch him pick out the flowers and note which ones he's taking, and once he's done they're looping his arm with theirs to head for the library! ]
We're going to need to find the heaviest books possible.
anyway he looks deeply pleased with the arm loop, taking theirs with joy. off we go to the library after all. ]
Now that, my friend, will be very easy to find! Perhaps a dictionary or thesaurus? I think after all the time I've spent there, I could find you one in a moment.
I had a feeling you would like this place. When I remembered we'd be coming here I did think of you. [ following along... ] More than you've seen before?
It warms my heart beyond belief that you'd think of me.
[ sincere... as always... but he nods, happily. ]
The only library I ever had access to was Lady Caris'. It was certainly not an unimpressive library, but compared to this - a library filled with knowledge across the universe - it pales. I gathered a few texts for my research, earlier, even! Things from Iria. But then, I spent so much time looking at other things that I feel as though I turned myself around in circles.
I hope to read some political theory, next. [ aaand dictionaries. he reaches over and grabs one, making a little "oof" noise and wobbling to a table. ] All of this is to say that I will use a bookmark with fidelity.
I don't think turning yourself in circles in a library of all places is the worst, really. I know a few people who would be happy enough spending hours in this place as long as they found things that interested them.
[ following! ]
Politics... [ they make a sort of noise of distaste, but they get it. they will pull out a chair and take a bag off, which taair can now see? it's a cute homemade thing, and they begin pulling out paper, scissors, etc. ] You'll need a few, I think, with the amount of books you'll go through.
I know, I know. I can still be interested in one and not the other, can't I? The common people are a bit more relatable.
[ grabs the book and drags it forward! they have a carnation in their other hand. ]
The most important step in making these is to make sure you dry the flowers properly. You have to press them to flatten and remove any moisture or they won't hold well. Plus it'll be lumpy. I have a few dried ones in my bag already so I can show you what to do when it's done, but pick the ones you'd like and stick them between the pages.
