... for us, it was a demon that had been awakened. It wanted to unravel everything it could get its hands on, including Cabeswater itself.

Honestly... that's most of it. A demon made them hurt each other? And the only way to stop it was to trade "willing life for unwilling life".

Apparently I was there, on the other side of the river to take them back, but I got lost at that part. I don't know much else about what happened, other than the usual effect of them remembering alternate lives.

That doesn't sound too surprising, if the rest of what's been said is accurate. [ and maybe it doesn't matter. they're all safe, they're on their way to healing... the demon's dead at home. but it feels a little rotten to know that it happened at all. ]

Someone had to die to stop the demon. That's how it worked back home, too.

... and like those four, that someone came back. It's just that we were missing something else. Or someone else, I think. That's more accurate.

Another friend. [ she looks conflicted about saying this. ] There were four of them, once. But I've only remembered three until recently.

As in, you had memory issues?

Can they really be called memory issues if I didn't realize it was an issue to be had anyway? I didn't know someone was missing until you all arrived.

Like your memory just started coming back when we got here?

Certain actions from certain people unlocked memories that I didn't realize were locked. And if you all hadn't come here, or if I hadn't said yes to God, it probably would not have happened.

... Sounds like it was pretty jarring. [...] Better this way or worse?

... worse, maybe, because now I'm aware I'm still missing things but not the whole context of what that may be. But that's for me to solve later, I think. We still have a lot to do here.

... Personal issues to work out even in Heaven, huh. Well, I hope you manage to solve it when you have the room to...

Thanks. I think it's best for it to wait until after this trial is over though. We still have a lot of work to do to make sure you get back home.

I'm sure I'll find other people somewhere. [ she's not super worried about it at the moment. ] But that's still weeks from now.

It doesn't hurt to think a bit about the future. Just so long as you're not alone in this.

To be fair, I have spent my whole life thinking about the future. [ it's a little tiring. ] But... a lot of you are very kind and like to remind all three of us we're all working together.

They seem to be getting along better now that some things have come up to clear the air. But I'm a little grateful to be an only child more than ever now.
