[ ah, this is paradise, right? just being able to sit around and talk to others, to spend time with them in the firelight. his little head wings flutter as he says it, happy. ] And should you ever need anything in the midst of a firefight, I hope that you'll call for me. If you don't remember my name, that's alright, too. Just cheer out and I'll rush right to your side.
This is my very first one. But... hopefully, the first of many.
The answer is both, of course. I do want to be here.
I have been studying the healing arts for some time, and if I can use those skills to help all of you, who fight so hard on the battlefield for the better of all of us... is that not worth something? Plus, I hope that I can get to know as many of you as I can, so I might chronicle your stories, in our downtown - a two-pronged purpose. To help you all, and to ensure the world knows of the kind of things you do.
[ the head wings puff up a little bit in !! passion!!! ]
There is no such thing as 'just another soldier', Marcoh. Every soldier in an army is not just a statistic, but a person - someone with likes and dislikes, with family, with friends. With people who love them. And your story deserves to be told as much as - [ he glances across to jingyuan, and nods in that way ] - the greatest generals do.
Besides, now... I think I would like to say that we are now friends. And I would like to tell the story of a dear friend even more.
[ there's a very, very small quirk at the corner of his lips. ]
Good.
[ there's a... flicker, of something. something warm and familiar in your chest, taair, like deja vu. like you've been here before, but a step to the left. it might be a little disorienting, but it passes. ]
[ that deja vu flicker feels as light as air - like being lifted up, wind in his hair.
it's so surprising he thinks its his element at first, and blinks, once, twice, and it's gone. how odd. absently, he lifts a hand and rubs it against his chest. ]
Good, indeed. [ he reaches for the drink he grabbed for himself, and holds it out to marcoh. ] Then...cheers, my friend. To a good night.
[ he's so happy with this. i will say he probably sits here for a little while and vibes with marcoh, very content just to enjoy his company. this is his new friend - not one of his very favorite people yet, but his dear new friend.
but eventually! he'll look very curious at sushang i have decided taking her pictures. ]
[ oh! watch those little bird wings poof up, flapping slightly in a !! gesture as the picture is taken. when sushang comes over, he blinks, looks at the photo - and then breaks into a smile, touching his hand to his heart. ]
Why - that's lovely, miss. You've a real talent for this sort of thing...!
Oh, it's great! There's this little milk tea place me and Guinaifen go all the time, you'd love it, everybody does. They do stories there! Like there's this guy that has all these really old war stories that he performs for crowds, it's awesome.
I mean, my mom works me pretty hard and I get tired of doing sword drills all day, but it's okay. All the other stuff makes up for it, and... I think I'm pretty ready for what's coming. I've always wanted to be out here, protecting people.
[ ooogh. his heart is warm, to hear all of this - both the delightful story of the yaoqing, and the young girl's resolve. taair sets a hand to his heart. ]
I would love that. [ softly. it sounds like a dream. ] And that is a fine motivation - I think it's one that you and I very much share. There is only so much we can do, to stand on the sidelines.
...If you end up in any trouble, please don't hesitate to call, Miss Sushang. I would like to return you home to your mother safely.
[ she softens a bit too, and wraps an arm around him, a sidehug. she's not shy at all. ]
I could see it, you know! Pictures always show you what a person's soul looks like captured on the page, and I could see right away that you've got a good spirit.
[ shakes him gently. ]
You don't worry about me, though! I'm the person that stands in front so you all don't get hurt. You healers are the most important backbone. My uncle tells me that all the time, though... I think he's kidding sometimes.
[ oh! his little head wings go !! briefly, but - well. he settles, after a moment, and gently returns the favor - though he does get rattled, it makes him laugh, softly. ]

Marcoh! Now we're acquainted, my good fellow.

[ he says, promptly. he remembers your name, buddy. his eyes also go to the little head wings... cute... ]

Oh? Why's that?

We can be friends, I guess. [ he has no objections. ] Be careful, though.

taair lifts one arm and makes a strong!! gesture. flexing! ] I am not very big and strong like you are, so I know when to get out of the way.

no subject
Oh. Um, thank you. [ great very humanpeople interaction taair ] It's... Taair - my name's Taair. I'm one of the new healers. And yourself...?
no subject
I'm one of the soldiers around here. I just got assigned from the Yaoqing, have you been there? My mom's a pretty high ranking official.

[ he lowers his voice a little, glancing out at the group with for a moment unbridled awe. ]
What's it like? To live there. And your mother...?

Your uncle. Is he a healer as well?
no subject
Anyway, he's confusing sometimes but he always made me really great food, so that's a plus!

[ (we did ) ]
And that is wonderful. It sounds like the two of you are very close - he must miss you terribly.
