[ i take this to mean hawke is on the beach. building sandcastles? i don't know i won't godmod you into that if he's not, but either way, ramiel is out for a stroll along the shore when they spot him.
[ well, yes. but also no cause yo boy has never built a damned thing in his life. the sad approximation of a mound is probably meant to resemble one but lbr he's not even rating an F score average.
he's a grownass mage and he's not pouting about being able to magic it (he's absolutely pouting about it) ]
[ that said he goes back to frowning at his pathetic mound in a full mage `wym i gotta use my hands` snit. ]
I wouldn't say it's bad, perhaps. It seems more of a group task than anything. Though, somehow even that might be asking more for a miracle than a standing tower.
[ trying to draw a little door on this lump with their finger. it doesn't really read as a door, now there's just a squiggly box to one side of the lump. ]
[ uses a finger to an angry face into the sand pile. nyaaah keeper of the castle...!! ]
My little brother. He's the only one of us who didn't inherit fathers magic. [ and grouchy about it as you can see ] Mages are more susceptible to demonic possession given our connection to the fade. It's far too common to hear of tragic tales about young foolish mages reaching beyond their abilities and oops, now there's a demon in your body and your town is on fire.
Oh, testing is the only way to find out. But there's learning and then there's getting too big for your britches. The line between those two is usually pretty clear between "how big of an explosion can I create if I combine these two things" and "if I add blood to this, perhaps I won't get eaten by a demon"
I suppose so. But big advancements require big swings. Small risks are only made possible by observing the larger risks taken by others—so in a way, they're still necessary.
[ she pats the top of it lightly so that it doesn't destroy it. ]
week 0, tuesday
they quickly head over! ]
Hello. Enjoying the day?

If you count being befuddled by sand enjoyable.

What are you trying to do?
no subject
However, given there's a distinct lack of access, doing the hard way is... well.
[ gestures ]

Is it bad to do it by hand? It's slower, but many people think things are more fun that way.

The fade.

[ watches his finger wigglies. looks at the sand lump. ]
I could try to help, but I've never done this before either. I might not be any good at it.
no subject
[ that said, he plops right down in the sand and pats the spot next to him ]
Well, we might as well learn together then. Nothing like a bit of fun to get your day going.
no subject
[ they take a seat! and then start trying to shape the sand into some towers but truly are not any good a this either. ]
no subject
[ yay magic! he sadly pats the lump with a half hearted attempt to make their pile more round. half of it just slides right off ]

I suppose Carver was the lucky one out of us, yes. Could be worse though! There could have been demons stuck in here too.

Carver? Demons? [ ??? ]

I... see. Pushing boundaries can be dangerous, if you don't know what you're doing. So how do you avoid that fate?
no subject
[ looks at the lump and vaguely squishes it more oblong. sand nug it is. ]
no subject
[ also, ]
I don't think either of us is very good at this.
no subject
[ meanwhile, looks at their........... creation ]
Well, there was an attempt.
no subject
[ she pats the top of it lightly so that it doesn't destroy it. ]
It was my first time. I'm proud of it.

We did good work... even if it's not quite shaped.
[ bonding! ]
no subject
I think maybe adding some water may have helped hold it together, structurally.
no subject
You know....? You may be right. [ gestures like that would do anything and ]
Oh. Right.
no subject
anyway THEY laugh. ]
We might need to go get it ourselves. [ and they tilt their head meaningfully towards the waves. ]
no subject
The lack gets more obvious by the day. [ gets up!! I guess!!! to stare at the ocean!!
and hms, ]
Would you happen to have a bucket on you? I think I left mine in my other pants.
no subject
I didn't bring one. But they have them at the giftshops. [ they point off towards the boardwalk. it's not far! ]
