Yo-ho.

[Since we're feeling nautical today. He's come by with a street pretzel which has yet to be broken in. More of a whim than a want, really. The emptiness of the place is getting him antsy and bored minds are hungry ones.

He'll casually offer it as he draws near.]

Taking your lunch hour?

[oh he will absolutely park ass beside them. Don't mind if he does.]

Mine neither. I was out of the age bracket when they came into vogue, though I did work a mean pinball machine on occasion. [He will absolve them of indecision and rip off a section of pretz, holding it out. For you.] I didn't expect to be chumming around a theme park after cracking my dome open. Is the next reveal a Drop of Doom and a Splash Mountain knock off?

[Visualizes this pretz being absorbed into a green void. What part of the glowing featureless mass are they eating it with.]

Huh. You don't say. [New stops. Well, guess Mizu will have to cozy up to the idea of riding the big steel tube after all. Poor fellow.] I'd have thought we'd have a ship coming in, but I guess the lighthouse might be for decoration after all.

[He nods along.]

Sure, sure. Who doesn't love a beach? The novelty's worn a little thin for me — I live next to one, just outside of Los Angeles.

[Interesting. Marking this down.]

Little over a dozen years, roughly. Or — god, more by now. [Stares into the horizon a little. He is not the oldest person here by a long shot (the LONGEST SHOT....) but my god, time flies.] I grew up by way of Maine and spent the better part of my teenage years in the Midwest. Little college there, too, but after, it was all West Coast, baby.

What about you? Since you seem familiar. And you caught the Soylent Green reference — no chance in hell you'd know a Charleston Heston flick if you were hailing from a galaxy far far away.

Oh yeah? And what's your big takeaway? Is humanity fantastic or fucked?

[He tilts his head, genuinely intrigued.]

No shit? How south? New Hampshire? Massachusetts?

And you might say that. Hard to make a living in entertainment outside of LA or New York, isn't it?

Oh absolutely, so much of it 100% done for dinner. But the times do change, and usually for the better. I'd like to think we're rambling in the right direction.

[that last comment though. One brow shoots up.]

That how you picked this sample population?

[And onto more mundane matters.]

Aaah — Da Capital. You weren't in government were you? [He waves the other notion away.] Oh no, I'm in front of a mike, not a camera. I was a host on KLAD 93.5. Kind of a minor celebrity in the L.A. area, I get to interview the big shots and play all the hits. Do a little voice work for shits and giggles. It's fun. I was damn lucky to find that niche, I'll tell you that.

O-ho! Is that so? [He grins bright and wicked.] Come on, spill it, who would you be giving the boot here? Is it me? Say it ain't so baby, I swears I can change!

[Also he laughs.]

Oops? All apologies, my good man, didn't mean to mistake you for the feds. It's awful hard to get a read on you guys through all the chromatic sear. Think you can dial it back a notch? My vision's shit as it is.

But sure, you bet. I only hope my best isn't too outdated. From the sounds of things I'm both miles behind the times and eons ahead, depending who you're talking to. You like Bowie?
