Where I'm from is like that. A lot of people don't even decide to look human.

Most of the people like me still represent themselves as geometric shapes.

Others choose to look like animals, floating heads, mythological creatures, foods with faces... Aliens, robots, cartoons... I see all sorts.

Not really. They don't need to eat or sleep, and they can change their form at will. So it's no problem.

It makes for a convenient metaphor at times, but no.

They are just people given more control.

They uploaded.

All of their personal data was extracted from their brain and emulated in a simulated world, giving them the freedom to customize both their own selves and their surroundings.

You could think of it like a mathematical calculation that represents their soul.

For conversational purposes, most code can be broken down into if-then sequences. Like when you order things from the kiosk. If you tap the icon for something, then you get that thing. Human behavior is the same, but on a much smaller, micro level of interaction, always moving and adapting to every factor in the present and the past.
