It becomes a race to see who actually gets the target. Yeah, I can see where you'd have to fight to stake your claim. But that also means you can pass on whatever targets you want, right?

Yeah, it does... There's no one telling us we have to take on certain tasks, so we're pretty free to do what we want.

That's... kind of nice. You have a job you don't mind doing, but you still get a choice in the people you work on. You've probably seen some really interesting people.

It's a nice thought. [ they sound like they don't entirely agree. ] I think being new makes it even more likely. It means everything's different from what you knew before.

It definitely is a new experience for sure... And I'm sure there's even more to come. So that's why I want to get better.

All the more reason to buff up your skills and prepare for going back. There're worse reasons for wanting to go home. I don't think wanting to get better at your job is one of them.

Anytime. I don't mind running drills to teach you whatever I can. It's important to know, even if you weren't gonna have to fight people for your jobs.

And he's right. It's a lot easier to learn when you're still young anyway. Your reflexes are faster and it's easier to build up that muscle memory before something does happen.

Guess every place has a hierarchy whether we understand it or not. But maybe it's a good idea to think a little more about it before putting more work in. Make sure you know what you're getting into, officially.

Not exactly. You can always end up doing something else, or you can quit and then do nothing else at all. There's always two options.

If you just started your job, I guess that would make sense. Most entry-level employees don't meet the CEO right away or whatever.
