I haven't... gone through that myself, but it doesn't seem like it's easy when something goes wrong in your family. But I do understand wanting to help when you see someone in trouble, especially when it's those you love.
Like you said, most people do. Sometimes it helps to talk about the changes. Sometimes you just need to stand beside someone and let them deal with them.
