Sounds like kind of a pain. Having to make other people happy without a reward for yourself. Were there any parts about it that you liked?

It is a pain, but it was my duty. [ Sounds rich, though he doesn't seem all enthused or ready to flaunt it right now. Just tired. ] I suppose... Feeling like I accomplished something and that all of my efforts weren't for naught, but those are fleeting moments.

It's impossible to have a happy populace. Very few think long-term and there will always be people who are dissatisfied. Rather than making the people happy, it's about managing dissatisfaction.

Fleeting or not, it must count for something. Without any of those small victories I think it would be harder to keep trying. But if it was your duty, there wasn't a choice, was there?

How do you manage one person's dissatisfaction over another? How do you choose what to address first?

There are some people who didn't want to necessarily go back where they were, or argued about the way of going back, or argued in general. I get that it feels like it's too good to be true, but it's not winning anyone points to continue destroying everything possible.

I toe the line of skepticism, but we are in a position where there's little to gain in being unruly... Especially if this is a prison, there are other ways to retaliate than to shit where we sleep.

There's a saying where I'm from that some people believe in, about squeaky wheels getting the grease. Maybe some of these people believe if they're so unruly, God will cast judgment sooner and release them. It's a stupid belief, but it's possible.

Nobody's asked in that many words, no. Some of you were very expectant about where you were supposed to be. Some of you aren't sure you can really hope to go back. But I think that's the point of having so long. A lot can happen in just a few months.

It's been a while since I've dealt with people like that, but if they're looking for punishment then I suppose that's one way of receiving it. Something is better than nothing, I guess.

It would probably depend on why you felt so strongly about going there, and why you thought you were initially meant to go there. Even going through the redemption process doesn't mean you have to return home when it's over.
