Dating. [ lightly. but she shrugs ] Though I guess some people still like the idea of being courted. And doing the courting.

... Going on multiple dates... Makes you dating.

[ It does make sense... It does make a lot of sense. ]

Dates are a part of courting, in my opinion.

They are, yeah. But there's... There's some kind of connotation to courting now? Dating can be casual. Courting always sort of implies something longer lasting and more romantic. Marriage at the end. That kind of thing.

[ ok she got proposed to already but ]

[ GIRL... YEAH HE'S LIKE... WE SAW THAT EARLIER... and is like looking at her like you... you. ]

Courting doesn't always end up as being entirely romantic or long-lasting. It can be as fanciful as something casual, then romantic is subjective... [ He has little romance in his body unless he is in love with someone. ] Plenty of nobility court for something like a week and then have a wedding.

[ ... ]

But I do understand what you mean. Marriage isn't a casual thing, even if it happens in a week of fanciful courting.

"Fanciful courting". [ just. repeating that in a Tone ] Yeah, I think after enough time passed people just started referring to that as dating. I don't know why courting got all those connotations, etymology really wasn't my subject.

But I guess sometimes you don't need courting or dating for marriage either.

[ teasing. herself now. ]

You don't think getting a proposal with love alone isn't fairy tale material?

[ are we sure ]

I think everything back home ruins any fairy tale aspect to it.

[ also the fact that he just shoved a box at her ]

You never know. It may still seem fantastical to someone else.

Congratulations, by the way.

Definitely fantastical, but more in a sci-fi sense than a romantic one.

[ she's pensive about it. but then she laughs and shakes her head ]

But thanks. I didn't think we'd be the center of so much gossip.

Science fiction does fit here better, romance sub-plot.

[ He learned the genre recently. ]

... Well... I don't know if you want to know more about how it spread.

Well, I can't deny I'm curious about it now that you said that.
