[ i'm going to be honest, when anders arrives at the bar it is entirely possible it smells a little like weed. not a lot, but just slightly.

and gabriel is here pacing around behind the counter, arms folded over their chest and sort of looking at the floor. but then there's anders, and they turn and nod in greeting. ]

Two in a row? Be still my heart.

[ does anders know what weed smells like ............ i think the answer is yes. ]

[ I DIDN'T KNOW IF DRAGON AGE HAD WEED. it has "elfroot." which is totally not weed. ]

[ going to the bar at the end of a day seems normal. ]

Fair enough. We all have those. [ some are healthier than others. anyway they tilt their head to that. ]

Yeah. Not much about me to change, I guess. Were you expecting something else?

[ leaning in, like maybe he'll see better up close. ]

We're supposed to be adjusting to the light.

[ they let this happen, but nothing changes. they are still glowy. ]

Huh. Good. I was wondering when your eyes would settle for them if they're supposed to be your eternal guides or whatever you would call them.

[ but not them......... ]

[ settling back down on his bar stool, drumming his fingers on the counter. they're all still bandaged up for now. ]

Still not adjusted to you, then?

Not an Angel, so... probably won't be anytime soon. [ watching his fingers. ] Rank's probably not high enough, anyway.

[spiritbalm]

[ somewhat grumpily: ]

[ they open their mouth to answer but change their mind briefly. ]

Wait, are you mad about this?

[spiritbalm]

Explain the ranks.

[holyspirits]

Uh. [ okay, they do not know why anders is obviously mad (you don't say no to a question like that and mean it??) and now they're just kind of going ??? in general. ]

Okay well there's God obviously. Then there's the Guardian Angels. Then there's a few ranks probably below that. And I'd probably put this job somewhere below those ranks. Somebody in the background who's fine to talk to and seek advice from, but ultimately easy to fade out.

[spiritbalm]

[ groaning and rubbing the bridge of his nose. ]

That all seems asinine. Why bother having ranks in a place like this?

Some semblance of order, probably. And also probably to make sure the girls hold the line and I know my place here.

[ they seem very casual about this though. ]
