Well—change can be scary. But if you don't risk it, you might never find what makes you happier than you had been before.

A lot of people get very nervous before uploading. But in the end, they're glad that they did.

Oh. No. I was created with the combined data of two people who did upload, though. I was born in the cloud, so... I never existed in the physical world to begin with.

That's right. I've ... always thought of you as more like a Spirit, admittedly. Like Justice.

I suppose I'm something like that. I was created to fix the inherent flaw that would otherwise kill those who uploaded.

But I don't know if I'm quite as special as something like the spirit of justice itself. I was the first CI. But I'm no longer necessary.

Spirits are the Maker's first children. The Chant claims He deemed them an unfulfilled creation, because they lacked a soul.

I think many would say that fits me. Created Intelligences are seen as less human than Uploaded Intelligences, after all.
